I like to keep my heart close guarded, behind humour and wit, behind my bone barricade, behind a facade of what you believe to be trust. I keep only one thing there, like an emotional pacemaker- she, dressed in nothing but the morning saffron of the sun, brushing my face and weaving lines of pillow talk for me to inhale

and she pulls me closer, and I see her lips form the three words that to most would seem like a threat or a Trojan horse

but to me, they mean more than my heart

because they are my heart
