#40 Reminisce

Cowboy Bebop was on earlier. It was the first time I'd watching it in AGES. I've had a sort of love-hate relationship with anime. By that I mean I hated it for ages, loved it briefly in high school, and have been generally indifferent to it ever since.

I still remember the night that changed my mind about anime. It was probably around 1 or 2am and I was watching either Family Guy or Futurama on Adult Swim when the cartoons ended and proper anime began. I'm not sure which aired first, probably Cowboy Bebop, then Inuyasha, but that night I got hooked on both shows.

The Cowboy Bebop episode was the one that explained Faye's history - how she had been a rather sweet girl who wound up frozen until the future with no memory of who she had been, how she had been fucked over by the first guy she met (and fell for), how she was forced to become a bounty hunter to pay off her debts.

The only thing I remember about the Inuyasha episode was that it began with a voice-over by Kagome, in which she explains how on her 15th birthday she fell down an old well and wound up in Japan's Feudal Era, and how she's on a quest to fight the evil demon Naraku and reunite the shards of the jewel she'd accidently broken.

Something about those two episodes drew me in.

But eventually both shows came to an end, and I eventually lost interest in anime.
