Okay, so Cally hadn't snuck out or anything while Mac went to class. She was still in Mac's bed, in Mac's room, with all the stuff people'd been giving her over the past few days. She was being good about the whole resting up thing.

"I hope they found Bridge 'n Z okay," she said to Mac

Pip pushed the door open. "Hey. How you feeling?"

"A 'ittle better than I look," Cally said. "Hi Pip."

"So, did anyone catch the name of the truck that hit you?"

"I don't even remember getting hit," Cally said.

"Worst kind of getting hit. 'Cause then you can't get angry, get a buddy, and go beat the truck that hit you."

"I don't think I could take him even if I did," Cally said.

"Well, we'll have to work on that when you get better, won't we?"

"Yeah, I guess," Cally said, not really sounding enthused.

"You don't sound very up and at 'em."

"Been a sucky week," Cally said.

"Well, we still love you. If it makes you feel better."

"It does," Cally said. "Just... two attacks in three days takes a lot out of you."

"...'eah," Cally said. "I got attacked in California."
