EMI and Apple have teamed up to do the right thing. DRM free songs.
Ok, so it's going to cost the store users more per track (99p rather than 79p) but you get a 256kbps racording rather than 128 as well as the complete removal of all copy protection. There's even going to be a 15p per track upgrade for songs you've already purchased.
Roll on the time when all the labels decide the same thing is good. Then they can dump the DRM altogether.
Now we just need the TV companies to start adding their shows in the UK...
