Claire just inherited my rather nice Canon A90 as I appear to be recieving a new Canon 350D, two Sigma lenses (18-50 & 55-200 both f3.5 DC) and a nice Crumpler camera bag tomorrow from the Interweb.

Need to go and visit Costco and pick up a memory card this afternoon too.

Decided against the 30D, then? TBH, for your purposes, the 350D is more than adequate and you've saved some good money there.
The 350D is the rough equivalent to my D70 in terms of features and image quality (yours has 8MP instead of 6.3 but that doesn't make that much difference) and most people who have one are really happy with it.
