[It's known to quite a few people that Lightning has been sleeping for a week now. What isn't quite as well known, however, is that her Lucario hasn't left her room no matter which human is at her side. So when the gear clicks on to show Lightning still sound asleep, there's the edge of a black paw on the feed. That pretty much clenches who's ( Read more... )

[He's been dozing off quite a bit lately. You cant blame him, he's been doing all-nighters and short naps.

But at the first sound of noise he jerks up in his hair, the legs hitting the floor as he jumps and looks around for any suspicious activity. Needless to say, the only suspicious activity is Sen on the bed with--]

[She can't blame him at all, really. She's too busy trying to get Sen off of her so she can try and sit up. But that's not working so well, so when Hope speaks, she jolts and turns to look at him. For a moment raw relief and something else show on her face before she smiles softly.]

Hope.

[Resists the urge to rub his eyes, and instead moves next to the bed.]

How are you feeling?

[Now she manages to sit up slowly, though Sen has to tug her a bit.]

Fine. Just a little sore. [Like she just fought to the death, really. And, amazingly, still tired.]

[Holds out his hand to her to pull her up.]

What did you see?

[She takes that hand, and when she's sitting up, shakes her head.]

I didn't go home, Hope. I didn't go to Pulse. It was...[she sighs now. How to explain this...] It was a war. I was summoned to fight in a war.

... How?

[Frowns, and doesn't let go of her hand.]

I'm not sure. We were summoned by a goddess named Cosmos and made to fight for her with no choice about if we wanted to or not. I don't know how she got us there.

[Sigh. She'll just...give his hand a little squeeze and not say a word about that.]

I just know we didn't have a way home. We had to keep fighting until she won the war or we were killed.

[Frown. He's hating the sound of that-- why cant gods and goddesses and whoever else just leave them alone?]

Was everyone else there? [Cant bring himself to ask "am I there"]

[She shakes her head at that.] No. There were others, but no one from home.

None-- None of us? Just you? Just you and people you don't know?

That's crazy.

It was probably for the best. I couldn't remember anything about this place or home. Not until I woke up. [She seems almost...guilty about that.]

That doesn't make sense. Why would someone take your memories away just to make you fight?

We were told that the more we fought, the more our memories would return. It was a way to keep us in line.

[Scowling, now.] Just like a fal'Cie.

Close enough. [She scrubs at her face; Cosmos was certainly close enough to be a fal'Cie.]

At least the fal'Cie would have killed us themselves. They wouldn't have waited on monsters to do it for them.
