[Dash is taking yet another break on the oh-so-perilous Route 29, spending it sifting through video messages. There is a relatively small Ponyta resting beside her, looking almost bored as she attempts to follow along with the videos.
Naturally, though, the Rapidash instantly gets her attention. She whinnies to alert her rainbow-headed trainer.]
Hey! You've got a dragon-pony too! Er... A dragon-unicorn. [Pardon this wide-eyed, slack-jawed stare, Lightning.]
[Odin stops short so quickly at that whinny from Dash's Ponyta that Lightning nearly tips forward over his head. It takes a moment for her to recover, before she lokos down at the Gear.]
Yeah, well... Blaze sorta breathes fire and that's what dragons do, sooo... Dragon pony. Woah--
[Dash is nudged partially out of the screen's view as Blaze moves closer to get a better view. Enjoy the screenful of firepony face! Hey. HEY. Sweet horn, bro.] Urgh, Blaze, cut it out!
I see. {Hello there, Blaze! It's nice to know you think his horn is cool, so have a whinny in greeting, and a chuckle from Lightning. She remembers Odin being that nudgy just this morning.]
[Blaze gives a respectful nicker in response. She wishes she was strong enough to get a horn that awesome. ;; Alas, her level's not even in the double digits yet.
Dash raises an eyebrow, first at Blaze, then at Odin.] Huh. So... They the same type of Pokemon, errr... what?
[Someday, young foal. Someday you shall be this awesome.
Lightning nods, patting Odin's neck as she speaks.] Odin used to the same size as your Ponyta. They used to the same species, and this is what yours will turn into someday.
Her eyes widen at that little explanation there. A moment later, she's laughing.] Heh, you gotta be kidding me. Noooo way! Ponies don't just turn into unicorns! They're completely different! [Dash originates from a world where ponies, unicorns, and pegasus rule. Saying a pony will turn into a unicorn is like saying a human will change race when given enough time. Oh, Lightning, you talk crazy!
... Then again, Dash has to keep reminding herself that a Ponyta is not the same as her meaning of pony.] I mean... Really?
[.... Oh. Well, that just kills the point a little bit, doesn't it? Oh, Final Fantasy. You and your plots that are always incomprehensible to me.
Dash glances uncertainly to her Ponyta. She... probably should reread the handy dandy Trainer Handbook some more. She doesn't remember reading about that!] Woah... Seriously...? Like... how strong?
[Odin nickers in amusement, tossing his head at the look on Dash's face, before Lightning gives him a look.] Odin's around...level fourty. It'll take a while.
Yeesh... [She eyes Blaze, then Odin, comparing the two. She doesn't exactly check as often as she should, but she's preeeeety sure Blaze isn't quite level forty. Or... even ten, for that matter.
She straightens, grinning broadly.] Eh, can't take that long when I'm the trainer! A few weeks-- a month max! [... Overly self-confident, this one.]
[Odin snorts, and Lightning shakes her head.] It took me three months of training him to get Odin to this point. You won't be able to do it in a month. [Maaaybe two if you don't get any...interuptions.]
Hah! Betcha I can prove ya wrong! [No, Dash. No, you will not be able to do that. At all. Ever.
She enthusiastically pats Blaze on the back. Even the Ponyta looks unconvinced.] Right, Blaze? [The Ponyta snorts and looks away. Dash gapes.] Wha--? You don't believe me?
[See this face, Dash? See this face? She is not at all convinced.] Being tough has nothing to do with it. There's only so much training anyone can do before they fall over.
Naturally, though, the Rapidash instantly gets her attention. She whinnies to alert her rainbow-headed trainer.]

Really. It's the same for most of the Pokemon. When they're strong enough, they'll change into something else.

You try to get your Ponyta that strong in a month and you'll drive it to the point of exhaustion. There's no way you can do it.

... Uuugh. Fine. Geez.
... Not like Blaze wouldn't be able to handle it though. If I was gonna go through with it, I mean. Blaze is tough, like me! [DETERMINED FACE.]
