004 [Accidental Video/Action for Route 31 and Violet]

[Well, this is a familiar sight. Lightning and Odin are out training again, though this time it isn't as late, due to Rise's drooping pigtails routine from yesterday. They're back out on Route 31, and if there's a creaking sound, it's because Lightning is holding her Gear with a white-knuckled grip. No Gastly is getting the drop on her this time.

[ Have a Skarmory watching Odin and Lightning chase down Gastly. This looks like a fun game, can she join? Clearly more fun that chasing regular ol' pidgey. ]

Skarmory, don't-- [ But Leon's too late. Skarmory takes off after the pair, leaving Leon with not much choice but to run after as well. ]

[The sound of wingbeats is what gets Lightning's attention, and she spins on her heel in time to see Skarmory come to join in the chase, Leon not far behind his bird. She clicks her tongue, but keeps going as Odin spits more fire out at Gastly, Ember doing a good job to keep it from getting away and wearing it down at the same time.]

[ Skarmory is content to just watch Odin go; she and Leon have been training all afternoon and this is just free entertainment. Leon watches to make sure she doesn't bother anything--but he knows she's too wary of fire to get close. Still, he readies her pokeball in case he has to call her back. Skarmory caws encouragingly at Odin; he's almost there! ]

[Well, he's going, and going, and going until he's got the Gastly cornered. Might want to back off, Skarmory, because there goes the fire now. And it's a hit on Gastly, too.]

[ Leon is pretty admirative, just watching Odin torch anything in his path. Skarmory is skittering around as she tries to see beyond the bright blaze. Another encouraging caw. Show that ghost who's boss! ]

Skarmory, get back. [ Leon's voice is terse, commanding; Skarmory obediently hops back and away, getting closer to her trainer. She's still focused on the battle, however. ]

[More fire, coming right up! Gastly's got nowhere to run now, and Lightning throws the Pokeball in her hand. But it's not enough; it shakes twice and Gastly breaks free, angrier than before. Odin snorts, and Lightning clicks her tounge.]

Stubborn thing...Odin, again.

[ Skarmory is practically bouncing with excitement, her body bobbing up and down as she observes Odin's battle prowess. They were so close! Leon's watching intently now, mentally crossing his fingers on Lightning's behalf. ]

[That final Ember is enough, and the second ball Lightning throws is the one that captures Gastly. Odin whinnies, rearing and pawing at the air with his front hooves, and Lighting bends down to pick up the now still Pokeball.]

Good work, Odin. [Turning to face the Skarmory and it's trainer now. Enjoy the show?]

[ Skarmory hops up and down, looking admiratively at Odin. That was awesome! Leon, on the other hand, gives Lightning an apologetic look and politely inclines his head. ] Sorry--she got excited. [ He motions to Skarmory, who chirps excitedly again. Still awesome, you guys! ] I hope she didn't distract you too much.

[Odin just whinnies happily at Skarmory's enthusiastic chirping, and Lightning shakes her head.]

It's alright. It helped us out, actually.

[ Shrug. He's just glad they weren't in the way. ] Didn't need the help. That was pretty impressive.

[Odin's going to snort now, and Lightning seems a step away from mirroring him.]

Compared to the last time, anything's impressive.

[ Well now he can't really not ask, can he? ] What happened last time?

Was training closer to town. Got jumped by a Gastly. [And scared the crap out of her travelling partner, too.]

[ A nod. ] Happens. They're pretty crafty.

It's the surprise more than anything. [She knew to expect it tonight, but still...it had put her on edge.]
