Something to be irritated about...

Five minutes ago I ate a sandwich from Panera Bread. I was hungry and didn't feel like cooking. Oh well, such is life. The sandwich was good, but it had a completely rancid sauce. It wasn't oversauced, which is my usual complaint about the use of any/all condiments, it was just horrid. Alas, that is not why I'm irritated...

While at Panera Bread, I foudn myself wondering if Queer as Folk, Season Five, is yet available on DVD. So I did the only logical thing and logged onto the HBO website, attempting to find out. The QAF part of the site is filtered by Panera's webfilter system.

This irritated me, as I am not a fan of Panera Bread telling me what I can and cannot look at online. Obviously, I think it would be inappropriate for me to pull up porn while seated near someone's grandma/child. This can be filtered. But the HBO website? A little odd. The only other websites I can find that are blocked are Playboy, Hustler, and Adult Friend Finder, and it was a stretch to find those. Some non-filtered websites: Sex and the City and the Sopranos. Both sexually amplified, one extremely violent, both very non-family values.

My thoughts:
I dislike that Panera Bread copies things directly from the Zingerman's Cataloug.
It irks me that when I ask for the slightest modification to my sandwich, they can't do it, because all of their sandwiches (or many of them) are premade.
My sandwhich today tasted like ass because of a pathetic sauce that was thrown on it.
The bagels, though slightly delicious, do not taste like bagels and come in a variety of unnatural flavors.
Come to think of it, most of the things that I order here taste exactly the same...
Which might have something to do with the fact that the soup comes in giant frozen blocks (not kidding) and is simply unthawed daily...
OR it could be that the bread dough is squeezed out of tubes into little molds, nothing is fresh...
AND I am not too happy about the random selection of blocked websites.

Consensus:
I really didn't like this place that much when I arrived minutes ago.
I like it less now.
If I want a decent deli experience I'm going to Zingerman's (or even the Nautical Deli :)).
If I want free wifi I can sit in my apartment and chance it, or go to one of the nine coffee places I can think of that offer it.
I loathe Republicans, and have a feeling they own the joint.
I won't be back.
Good-bye Panera Bread. You suck.
