Somerville Coalition for a Responsible Walmart
Good morning folks,
Can you take 1 or 2 hours on Saturday March 31st to help us launch “Stand Up to Walmart” in Somerville? We need your help to talk to as many residents, small businesses owners, and concerned activists about Walmart’s negative impact on local communities. By working together we need to send a strong message to Somerville elected officials NOT to allow our city to become the next victim of Walmart’s predatory business model.
On Saturday at 10 am, we will be gathering at Somerville Local First, 21 Properzi Way, Somerville MA 02143. Their office is located near the Market Basket in Somerville, off Somerville Avenue close to the CPCU Credit Union.
After a quick update of our coalition’s work in Somerville, our plan for Saturday includes the following:
a) Canvassing
b) Asking small business owners to put up the “Stand Up to Walmart” sign on windows or doors in their locations
c) Handing out flyers and asking the public to sign postcards that will be sent to Somerville elected officials.
d) Talking to Walmart associates
e) Recruiting volunteers to join the coalition
We are planning to cover Broadway, Somerville Avenue, Highland Avenue, Davis Square, and Union Square. And if we have enough volunteers hopefully other important areas in Somerville, which makes your participation crucial.
