family reunion saturday night. hell yes.
Friends and family, yet another exciting year is coming to a close. My, how the days seem to fly by! Much has changed in the Gehringer household:
We have been humbled by the Lord’s healing power this year, as through much prayer and hard work Rachel has finally overcome her heroin addiction. Not a day goes by that we do not get down on our knees and praise Him for guiding our wayward sister back into the grace and light he intended for her. Following family tradition, Rachel is a freshman at Marian this year. Also in accordance with family tradition, Rachel has already racked up several points and earned a Saturday school.
Kyle managed to graduate from Creighton Prep after a rather ample donation to the school from George’s once money-laden pockets. George will be unemployed soon, but luckily he has been selling drugs to the neighborhood children to make some extra cash.
I know exactly what you’re thinking at this point… “My goodness, George and his family are really in pain and suffering during this holiday season!” - But how very wrong you would be. Joey, a 4th grader this year at the wonderful school, St. Bernard’s, is our beacon of hope and strength. It is he that gets us through these otherwise abysmal times with his extreme genius and close connection with our Savior, The Lord, Jesus Christ.
College has treated Kyle well. Creighton has introduced him to the wonderful world he had missed out on during his illustrious swimming career at Prep: the world of alcohol and drug abuse. Kyle has made the transition from athlete to drug addict smoothly, fitting in at once to the new lifestyle. We are proud to say that Kyle is following in his father’s footsteps and has begun his very own drug business.
On a less happy note, Matthew has been having disciplinary problems at St. Bernard’s. (We should have known that having more than one non-delinquent child (the one being Joseph of course) was too much to ask of our Lord). So far he has gotten in three fistfights, one kung fu battle, attacked three teachers, caused 67 total stitches to the other kids, and been to the principal’s office 15 times. We fear that he may break the record shared by Kyle for the most demerits received at Creighton Prep.
Charles has been making quite a name for himself in the art world. Breaking stereotypes and misconceptions about Asian-Preschooler artists, Chuck (as George calls him) subtly conveys powerful emotion through his use of stick figures and rich colors of crayon and marker. Although he is only five, we feel that dear Chuckie may surpass even the world-famous Jack Roberts in talent. Don’t tell Jack though, he might get jealous.
Well, there you have it, a summary of our busy, exhausting, yet fun year. We write this in hopes of a Merry Christmas to all in Christ’s name and a Happy New Year! Stop by our house on Christmas anytime between6PM and Midnight and enjoy the alcoholic beverages!
