Al knew the fight had been his fault, but that didn't make it any easier to stomach the thought of apologising to Scorpius. A pointless argument over who's parents they would be spending Christmas Day with had escalated into Al flouncing onto the couch, and Scorpius storming off to work without so much as a look.

So Al had decided he should apologise, and had bought a gift to sweeten the deal. Well... unwrapped one of the gifts he'd been going to give Scorpius for Christmas, but it was the thought that counted. Holding the material behind his back, Al took a deep breath and pushed open the door to the living room. Scorpius was sprawled in an armchair, and looked at Al as though he were one of Satan's minions. There was no point beating around the bush, and the more direct Al was, the less likely Scorpius could find something in his words to pick fault with. "Hey, Scorpius. I'm really sorry about last night. I bought you this to make it up."

Al was expecting a bit more of a fight, but Scorpius just shrugged softly, swinging around on the armchair and patting his knee. Al went over, sitting down gingerly and holding the gift out to Scorpius.

"What is it?"

"A blindfold and some matching handcuffs. I thought you could tie me up and tell me off?"

Scorpius smiled for the first time since their fight, and Al relaxed. They might fight, but they could make up in an instant.

"It's got... are these bells?"

"Yep, and those are embroidered glittery snowflakes."

"Very festive. Shall we give it a test run?"

Al beamed, standing up and heading towards the stairs, and their big bed. The roar of the fire was the most depressing sound he had ever heard. Astoria's voice was a close second.

"Hello Scorpius, I just wondered... what's that in your hand?"

Glancing over his shoulder and seeing Astoria's head looking up at the blindfold from the fire, Al knew there was only one thing to do; run and hide in their bedroom. He'd leave Scorpius alone to explain the blindfold to his mother. And the matching handcuffs.
