Hugo wondered why his father had tensed up at the knock on the door, but he didn't really care enough to ask. When his father made no move to answer the door - still suffering from last night's drinking session - Hugo stood up and walked into the hall. Pulling the chain free and twisting the handle, Hugo was fully expecting to assure the person standing there that he didn't want to buy any of what they were selling.
"Hello, Hugo."
Jaw dropping, Hugo stepped out onto the front porch, jostling Draco backwards and pulling the front door closed behind him. "Are you mad? If Dad sees you here he'll..."
"Your father paid me a visit last night. He's had a change of heart."
The full weight of Draco's words took a moment to sink in, and when they did, Hugo didn't know if he dared believe them.
"That is, of course, if you'll have me back."
"What? I... of course... wait here," Opening the door again, Hugo dashed into the living room, looking his dad up and down. "Really?"
"I have to let you make your own mis-- choices."
Smiling, Hugo shook his head. "It isn't a mistake, I promise. I'll be home later."
Pulling open the front door again, Hugo wasted no time flinging himself against Draco, holding Draco's face in his hands and kissing him deeply. It felt like forever that they stood there, twisted up together and swaying gently. "I missed you."
"I missed you too."
Stepping back, Hugo was suddenly shy and looked to the side of Draco as he asked, "What now?"
"Well, the work is piling up on your desk, so I say we return to work and catch up." When Hugo didn't follow Draco in stepping away from the house and heading to the edge of the wards, Draco turned around and peered at him. "Are you not coming?"
"Straight back to work? I thought that maybe we could... you know... catch up?"
Draco smirked, looking even more attractive than Hugo remembered. "With Scorpius at home, and reasoning that rubbing this in your father's face so soon is not a smart decision, where better to go and catch up than the privacy of my office?"
Hopping down off the porch, Hugo reached out and twined his fingers into Draco's. "Lead on, Boss."
"Unless you want me to ravish you in your father's begonias, you'll keep the dirty talk to yourself until we're behind Privacy wards!"
