Anyone who hangs out with me enough will find that I use a strange system of measurements. It comes at least partly from the other person who works from home here, and who I consequently see every weekday for hours and hours. We've been known to have entire conversations in meme.
At some point one of us started using measurements instead of adjectives. For example, "it's really very chilly outside" became "it has ten colds!" The situation has since expanded to cover hunger, boring situations, and television.
Should I stop? Meh, maybe. But I love to play with words, and there's something so much more descriptive about saying "I have ten stabs" than "golly gee, I am frustrated with the client's website today." And as these scales work usually on a 1 - 10 basis, the listener knows that 10 stabs is about as close as I can get to actual technologicide without needing a new laptop.
So, a brief reference list of measurements:
Drowsiness - tireds or sleeps ("the exam took six hours, and now I have seven sleeps")
Frustration - stabs
Hunger - hungers or need-to-eats
Boredom - boreds or dies
Dramatic television shows are measured in dramas, and usually expanded past 10 for comedic effect. Example: "The last episode of Lost clocked in at 300 dramas . . . and 200 WTFs"
That's all I got. Tonight's my last class and I should probably go work on a project.
