New Beginnings Part III (The Conclusion)
I went to GNC on Saturday morning to inspect the supposed miracle cure. It was behind a glass case. It was purple and large, just as the stoner had foretold. I waved over one of the GNC employees and asked, "So can you tell me how this drink works?"
"When is the test?" he asked, seeing right through my facade.
"Monday morning."
"If you have that much time, I would recommend using our 2 day detox kit. It will be less of a shock to your system and will make you feel better too."
I purchased that and a bottle of Vitamin B tablets, per the GNC man's recommendation. He also advised me to drink plenty of water and cranberry juice.
I was a model citizen all weekend. I even purchased an over-the-counter drug test from the local drug store. On Monday morning at work, I took the drug test in the restroom. I read the instructions five times over. I was pacing back and forth. It was the longest 5 minutes of my life.
When I read the results, I was confused. According to the test, it looked like I was positive for both THC and cocaine. But that couldn't be right. Could it? I consulted my friend at work. Having taken a pregnancy test on more than one occasion, she was able to read the test results better than I.
"This is negative," she said, "It just looks very watered down so I would advise you to stop drinking water."
I took her advice and went in to the recruiting place. I peed in the cup. I waited in the lobby. She came back 5 minutes later and told me I had passed.
I got the job.
I started last week, and I love it.
