It is almost as bad in Texas. Let's see...if you let your license expire you need the things you mentioned; birth certificate and social security card.

You need proof of liability insurance as well to get your license, get your car inspected, and renew the tags on your car.

You need a license to get insurance and insurance to get a license. WTF? If you move here from out of state, you're screwed!

If you need a new SS card, you need your county birth certificate and license. Oh and you need an entire day to stand in line at the SS office. The rub here is the hospitals only began to file birth certificates with the county after a certain year and I was born before that year. I only have the birth certificate from my hospital. SCREWED. Needless to say I treat that ratty little card like gold.

Ah the politics of living...if we can call it living.

Damn, it is bad all over.
It was all a surprise to us, beings how we aren't terrorists or anything. We had no idea.

Politics... now there is a topic. Don't get me started. Laughing so I don't cry.

I'm all for keeping illegals from getting access to things, but that's crazy.

I don't know that it is so much for illegals as trying to disenfrachise the voters since you will soon be required to show 18 kinds of ID to cast your ballot. This definitely favors one political party over the others.

Hey, it may have to do with illegal aliens getting services, but I hadn't heard as much about that as protecting us from terrorists and stuff.

I don't feel any safer having to jump through a ton of hoops having to get a new drivers license or practically strip searched to take a plane anywhere.

HUH I work at the passport office here in my hometown and holy hel, it's not almost as complicated as in your land.
*is shocked*

Passports should be more difficult than drivers licenses in any land. The bitch is, this isn't issuing a new license to someone who could be a terrorist *sarcasm*, this is anyone renewing one even if they've had it for years.

I may have to go back to my civilly disobedient ways. Back in the 80's, I refused to renew my DL because of the song-and-dance I had to go through back then! Ilasted 13 years without a license, until I was practically dragged off to jail when we lived in TN.

You and my hubby. He swears up and down that if he can't get his license he is driving without one. And then he said a bunch of words I'll leave out...

Back in the 80's you were a rebel.

I almost said that from your journal I think you are still a rebel, but I didn't want to seem too forward.

You totally crack me up. Plus I love Hawaian shirt day and I want you to teach me all that Quick Books stuff you learned last week.

Love your icon too. I will fuck your shit up. Love Dean-o and that look...damn that is hot!!!

OH Lordy hon! And I have to renew my DL next month *cringes* at possibility of the hoops the California DMV will put me through (at least I never changed my name, though my mom did when I was a wee child, so I have a 'note from mommy' attached to my birth certificate explaining why the name I've used since before kindergarten doesn't match the one on the cert. *sighs*)

I hate to be a pessimist, but good luck with that.

Oh, I guess I can't hide being a pessimist, one quick glance at my LJ shows that is often my frame of mind. LOL
