1. Roasted turkey breast, sprouts, cucumber, and cream cheese on croissant.

2. Homemade chicken and dumplings - southern comfort food at its finest, and something I don't get nearly as often as I'd like.

3. Baked sweet potatoes with a touch of honey. Healthy, but so, SO dessert-like and amazing.

4. Strawberry short-cake; a nostalgic treat, as it used to be my family's traditional birthday dessert (mine is in May, which is perfect timing for really good berries in the Carolinas).

5. Eggnog. I am PASSIONATE about the stuff, with or without alcohol; even better, eggnong-flavored milkshakes from Coldstone Creamery or Cook-Out (A southern fast-food drive-through chain I'm very fond of.)

3. Baked sweet potatoes are like dessert.

I make one that has brown sugar, coconut, pecans and its called Praline Yams. Total dessert if you ask me. Yum.

4. Strawberry short cake, double yum.

I was born with no sense of smell and very little in the way of tastebuds, so if a food doesn't have a very strong flavor chances are I won't be able to taste it at all. On a really bad day I can't even taste ALTOIDS. I've never been sure what caused it.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm just going to ogle your icon. Forever.

I'm sorry about your sense of smell and taste, that must be awful for you.

I just thought of another food that I have got to add to my list. I am off to edit in a sec.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm just going to ogle your icon. Forever.

My icon has that effect on me too. I think it would actually be the perfect icon for the comm, cunnilingusfic, because when I see that shiny chin and swollen lips, that is exactly what I think of. TMI-I know, but it is *my* journal. LOL

I LOVE THAT COMM ZOMG.

Ahem. There is no such thing as TMI where Dean is concerned. :D

And really, the sense of smell thing....it's always been like that, and I'm used to it. And I grew up in dairy farm country so it has its perks.

Oh my goodness! I LOVE eggnog! And I miss it so much when it's not in season! Can't find the stuff anywhere!

Mmmm....my daddy makes AMAZING chicken & dumplings. I can't eat it anymore but I LOVED it when I did. Is that your comfort food (it is A comfort food, but I was wondering if it is YOURS!). Mine is cheese grits. Whenever I just need to hide, I always make me up some cheese grits!

Definitely my comfort food. Chicken and dumplings and pecan pie. I'm very definitely a down-home country Carolina girl at heart.

Katie-I've never seen a grit, except in that My Cousin Vinny movie, and I'm not sure they actually showed a grit, just spent a ton of time talking about grits. LOL

To both of you sweet southern belles: I've never seen a dumpling either. Isn't that basically biscuit batter that you throw on top of soup or stew and then in turns into a big slimy mess? Or does it just stay slimy on the outside and actually have biscuit consistency on the inside? I am afraid to try new things. Dumplings frighten me. :(

LOL!!

Well, first of all, you really don't see a "grit"...it's not singular. It's always grits. They are really good! It's hominy, so it's something that I can still eat. It's usually served with butter or cheese (although a friend of mine was in Boston and was at a place that had grits on the menu but there were onions and peppers and some other stuff in there that kinda grossed her out...but that's yankee's screwin' it up for ya!). And with the fact that I can't have oatmeal either, this is my breakfast of choice.

A picture of some grits:
