This was the busiest Saturday I have had in a long time.

I got up early and spent about 3 hours cleaning my house and doing laundry.

At noon I left to drive the half hour to town for Buddy’s annual veterinary exam. We were there for over an hour and he got a great exam, 2 blood tests, 2 tests on each eye to check on tear production and no scratches on his corneas, 3 shots rabies, lyme disease, something else and then something in his nose for kennel cough. All of his limbs were fully palpated, as he has some arthritis in his hips and joints, a years worth of heart worm pills, and a new tick collar.

Then we had to jam home the half hour drive because I had to leave the house by 2:30 because I was presenting at a seminar at 3pm. Oh, it was 100 degrees and Buddy decided he didn’t like the air conditioning, so we drove home in that heat with the windows down. UGH. I was hoping we’d have time to stop at the boat ramp about a mile from the house so he could have a quick swim in the river, but we were running sooooo late, maybe tomorrow instead.

I barely got home by 2pm, had a half an hour to shower, new makeup, do my hair and make a PB&J sandwich and a glass of iced coffee to drink and eat in the car.

I got to the place I was speaking at with about 2 minutes to spare. Geez I hate cutting things that close. The woman that had arranged for me to talk was probably having a coronary wondering if I’d show up. She claimed she knew I’d be there as we had just talked on the phone a couple of days ago and knew I hadn’t forgotten. I did my hour spiel and answered questions then left to go to a political meeting.

The Presidential Primary Election in Oregon is Tuesday, so we have had our area inundated with Democratic candidates and their campaigners for the last few weeks. I went to something called a house party for one of the Democratic Presidential candidates and saw several people I know. The representative from the National Campaign that was meeting with people had been the Legal Counsel for the Senator before joining the campaign effort.

It was an interesting couple of hours listening to regular folks talk about the US democratic process and exchange ideas in support of the candidate and the party.

Finally got home and got dinner made and able to relax after going all day long. But it was a very productive and interesting day. I am thankful that Buddy and the cats have such a thorough veterinarian. All of my pets have had serious and life threatening illnesses at one point or the other, except Fred the 17 pound cat. Fred’s biggest medical issue was that it was he that I was trying to pick up when I was laying down and herniated a disc in *my* neck that needed surgery. LOL  Fred, gotta love him.

The seminar was cool, it was the fourth time I had spoken for this organization. The people were very interested and asked a lot of good questions. It is a fun thing to do.

I totally enjoyed the political thing too. So many people complain but aren’t active. I am looking forward to casting my vote Tuesday. The bad thing about Oregon is that we are a Vote by Mail state. Basically they send your ballot and you can mail it back or drop it off at the county building. We always drop off our ballots, I don’t trust the mail, I want to watch it go into the box, and at that point I am pretty sure it gets counted.

So as busy as Saturday was, I am hoping that Sunday is the complete opposite. Sleep late and be a sloth. The most activity I’d want to do is take Buddy to the river to go swimming.  Oh, and transplant a couple of tomato plants.  And that's it.

rl, rambling
