Wanting what we don't have-Curly or Straight?

***The pictures of Jared, were to make you look.***   LOL

Yesterday was my 8 week appointment for getting my hair trimmed and color weaved.  We add blond highlights and then weave my natural color back in.  Yesterday we added a little cognac to the brown to make it really warm to contrast with the blond.

The lady who does my hair knows that I love it flat ironed straight, so she always does that for me before I leave.  I do it myself but not in winter because of all the moisture.

My husband is sooooo predictable.  I met him for dinner and he says, "Your hair is straight." and makes that funny face that he makes.

"Yup, it's straight.  But as soon as I wash it, all the curls will come back.  It is just temporary.  I know you don't like it like that but, I do.  In fact there was someone who saw me after I left the hairdressers who liked it."

"Oh, who did you see?  You left there and came straight to the restaurant."

I had to drive about 30 miles on the interstate.  "A truck driver honked at me and flashed his lights."  I said laughing.  "How lame is it that the highlight of my day is getting honked at by a truck driver?"  I never even saw who was in the truck, for all I know it was some eighty year old guy.

So my husband goes to the bathroom at the restaurant and the waiter who we've known at this restaurant for ten years walks up to me and says, "I really like your hair like that."

I laughed and said, "That is hilarious, my husband hates it like this.  We need to smack him upside the head."

Hubby comes back and sits down.  "Hey, in addition to the truck driver, the waiter likes my hair like this.  He just came over and told me."

When the guy came and brought the bill, my husband kind of gives him a look.

My question, in a huge roundabout way is that I bet more than half the people on my flist who have straight hair do something to make it curlier or have some more body and many of the ones with curly hair do something to make it straighter.  Other than washing your hair, how much time does it take you to do your hair in your preferred hairstyle?  Do you have a shorter regimen for when you are in a hurry?  If so, how long does that routine take?

What category are you in?   Why can't we be happy with what we have?  I used to fight my curls all the time, but I have made peace with them.  I keep it kind of long so the weight drags it down and makes it bigger softer curls.  When it is short it is way too curly for my taste.

The funny thing about this whole thing goes back to the pics of Jared at the top.  I like my hair straight and I hate his like that, so I kind of know where my husband is coming from.

Edit:
Katie asked for a picture of my hairdo.  Well, it is Sunday and I didn't take a shower yet, but I went outside since the sun was out and took a picture so you can see the color and how straight it is.  LOL
