When I was younger, I read a fairytale about two princesses who were bestowed gifts by faeries when young. The older would grow up to be the prettiest girl in the world but also extremely dumb/stupid. The younger would grow up to be extremely ugly, but also grow up with extreme wit and intelligence. Eventually the younger charmed everyone with her wit, intellect, articulation and eloquence while people got over, were not impressed with and eventually forgot about the older.
One day, as the older was crying outside because of her fate, she met an ugly prince of a neighboring kingdom who asked her why she was crying. When she explained herself, he asked her to marry him. Because it turns out that he was an ugly prince bestowed with extreme intelligence at birth and the girl he married would magically become just as intelligent after the marriage. I think the prince became good looking at the end too but that's irrelevant.
The moral of the story is that intelligence and wit are so important. I wish I was more intelligent. I wish I was born a male. I wish I didn't have to deal with all these insecurities and feelings of inferiority. Right?
I'm going to be that pretty princess who turns intelligent ok.
