Feeling Foreign

Listening to the CBC - the voices sound too cheerful. My ear has been tuned to NPR for so long that it's those familiar voices that I expect. The old voices - Peter Gkzowsky and Barbara Frumm are long gone. The new voices are too cute, too bouncey, almost insincere.

I should be out and about wandering down Queen Street - poking my head into the rag and bone shops pretending to be establishments dealing in fine antiques. The sun shines, Owen is asleep - or lazing - and Mom has gone to a doctor's appointment.

Reading Owen's recent Live Journal entries makes me feel pretty good about leaving him here to start his very own life by his own self. Meanwhile I head off to a new stage in my own life.

Hope to wander amongst beautiful paintings this afternoon at the AGO. Dinner at the Derry's on Robbins this evening. Almost feels like I'm on holiday.
