Well, actually, I'm not trying to give anyone a history lesson, these are actually just some
rough notes I have lying around, which I'm adding here as a hard copy and working through
to put into some resemblance of order-eventually!
Josef Stalin/ "Man of Steel"
Born Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili, in 1878.
He was orginally meant for an Orthodox Priesthood, but when Josef was fourteen, he
enrolled in Tiflis Theological Seminary. A rebel, it earned him the nickname "Koba"
around this time. "Koba" was a famous Georgian (as was Stalin) rebel.
Becoming familiar with the then-forbidden literature by Karl Marx, and the early works
of Lenin, he began to conduct Marxist circles for fellow students. Shortly afterwards,
he conducted workers' Marxist circle.
In 1899, shortly before his graduation, Josef was expelled from Tiflis Theological Seminary
for propagating Marxism.
He became deeply involved in Anti-Czarist activity, givng addresses and leading various
strikes and demonstrations, and caught the attention of Lenin, when despite being repeatedly arrested,
always escaped.
Lenin reward Josef with a position on the Bolshevik Central Commitee in 1912,
as well as giving him the position of editor of the newpapers "Pravda".
-"Pravda" (meaning truth), was the Communist Party Newspaper. When Josef became editor
it was at this time he took on the pseudonym of "Stalin". "Man of Steel".
-Stalin was Secretary to Bolshevik Paty 1922-1953
-Premier 1941-1953
-"Collectivisation"-policy with which Lenin, and later Stalin nationalised within the Soviet Union.
An estimate conducted in 1988 to calculate the number of deaths resulting from Stalin's Collectivisation
Program of 1928-1933 calculated to be over 25 Million deaths.
That's it for now, I'll complete part 2 shortly! (or not!)
