Comment "WORDS" to this entry and I will comment back with five words I associate with you. Then you post this in your journal elaborating.
Here are
padparadscha 's words about me:
Joker - My favourite comic character, along with Scrooge McDuck and Spirou. (Interesting tidbit: they all wear or have worn spats.) I wasn't much into superhero comics back in the days; I'd read some Spider-man and Batman - Year One, but wasn't all that seduced by any of them.
Then the whispers started... Whispers of a pretty face, painted past recognition, and a mad laughter... Like everybody else I was caught up in the Dark Knight hype, I also happened to buy Arkham Asylum the same day I went to see the film, and it was downhill from there.
These days, my favourite versions of the Joker are the ones created by Devin Grayson, Paul Dini, and Sam Kieth; more humorous than scary, but still awesome. I have some ideas for Joker stories myself, but I'm still finding out what's been done already, so I'm not going to barge into DC HQ trying to sell myself as the next Alan Moore. XD
Sweden - Where I live and breathe. It's a beautiful country in northern Europe, roughly the size and shape of California, but with only 9,2 million inhabitants, and a rather different landscape and climate. It's nice and green everywhere, the capital city Stockholm is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, if not the world. There's always things to improve, but in general it's a place to be proud of, with lots of success in a whole lot of different fields, despite being a rather small country.
It may not be the first place one considers for a visit, but I'd warmly recommend Stockholm to anyone who's planning a trip to Europe. :)
Comics - What I read and what I want to do. I've always liked to draw, and I like to think that I'm good at coming up with stories, so comics seem like the natural thing for me to do. I've spent two years at a comic school here in Sweden, though I feel I didn't learn what I wanted and needed to learn when I started, so bar any unforeseen disaster I'm moving to the US in September, to attend the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art. This is a thing of rockage, the comics market in the US is way bigger than the one here in Sweden, and after this year's rather failed Small Press Expo I'm more interested in going commercial than trying to pimp my comics all by myself.
Writing - What I do all too seldom. I think I'm somewhat good at it, I've been told I'm pretty good at it by various teachers, so I really ought to get my bum in gear and get some stories done every now and then. It's not like I don't have any ideas... *eyes the Book of Ideas*
Of what I've written so far, my personal favourites are
The Curiosities of Mr Stache and
The Tale of the Pizza Cheese Monster.
Pirates! > ninjas. :P I've always liked pirates. When I was little my papa used to say he'd been a chef on a pirate ship, and he has the cooking skills and a Jolly Roger so who am I to argue? One of my favourite classic Disney films is Treasure Planet, and yes, I have all three Pirates of the Caribbean-films on dvd, and a Captain Jack Sparrow poster over my bed. I have a pirate duck too,
underless gave it to me. :)
The only manga I've started and kept reading is One Piece, which is mainly about pirates but also has, well, everything you can think of. XD No ninjas yet, but a horde of transvestites, zombies, secret government agencies that makes CIA look like sissies, islands in the sky, good pirates, bad pirates, good marines, bad marines, drama, action, and a whole lot of crazy, cracky humour. Read it, I recommend thee.
