Kusuriuri/The Medicine Seller:
A character from "Ayakashi - Samurai Horror Tales" and later, the main character from "Mononoke." "Mononoke" continues the story of the medicine seller from the "Bakeneko" arc of "Ayakashi," as he continues to face various dangerous spirits. His name is never mentioned, he is just refered to as The Medicine Seller/Kusuriuri. The Medicine Seller always proceeds in the same manner, using his knowledge of the supernatural to fend off the mononoke until he can learn the spirit's shape (Katachi), truth (Makoto) and reasoning (Kotowari). Only then can he unsheathe his sword and exorcise the demon. (taken from wikipedia and anime news network)
I think what caught my eye was the crazy japanese theatrical makeup. I did not watch Ayakashi, but I did watch Mononoke, and fell inlove with his character. His costume looks pretty traditional, but it's extreemmely detailed. Alot of the patterns and textures are going to have to be done by hand. I am inexperienced in doing both applique, and fabric stamping/silk screening/stenciling so i'll be looking forward to learning some new things :B The props look pretty straightforward. I might build the cabinet. I feel like I need to go all out..
