Summary: Leo complaining. What else is new? Well, there's the fact that he's actually complaining. Like, for a GOOD reason.
Warnings: Spoilers for "House of Hades." (I'm so glad I'm not the only one of my age who got excited for this book in May.)
Leo tossed and turned in his sleep. He would've thought he would sleep better, considering that he no longer had to sleep on the ground and wake up with sand up his nose. Calypso and her island remained stuck in his mind, he couldn't let it go. He found love--for the first time in his life after years of flirting with girls--only to have to leave. Because he had to save the world.
The prophecy of seven reverberated in his mind.
Before he had been a demigod, or at least discovered he was one--going on missions, saving the world, it all seemed like so much fun. Leo was tired of being an outcast, he wanted to be a hero. Now he was finding out that it isn't as fun as he thought. To be a hero, there was a lot he had to give up to do the right thing. Too many crossroads, as that damned goddess of magic would say. Leo just wanted to be selfish, he wanted to be happy, ignore all rules and do things his way. He hadn't realized when claimed what a pain it would be to do the right thing.
It probably hadn't helped that Calypso had kissed him. Now all he wanted was to do it again. He would gladly give up the chance to punch Gaea in the face if this could all end peacefully and him with his friends and Calypso.
Leo couldn't sleep, but he prayed that he would drop off, he would need the energy for the next few days to come. And maybe, just maybe, the god of dreams, whatever the dude's name was, would allow him to dream of a much brighter future, so that the heartsickness plaguing his chest would stop.
