Hair & Make up by yours truly,
Behind the scenes
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in beautiful things; beautiful clothes, flowers, furniture, music, lighting, fabrics, music, paintings, books and then… beautiful makeup.
At age 12, I started to look into my grandmother’s makeup because she’s more of a beauty junkie than my mom, and then tried it on together with my grade school friends. Then, boom! I fell in love with it.Nothing drastic, just powder and lipstick. It was really fun. It became easier to me as I can easily relate with makeup brushes and colors as I started to compete in art competition when I was in third grade but of course in canvas and paper. I also painted my entire room when I was in high school, from pink to purple and turned white again. I am good in blending colors and I can easily spot beauty in sophistication and quality. What I want is to master the craft and applying techniques in makeup.
As years passed by, when my grandfather died whom I love most, I lost interest in Art. I’ve been competing in art competition for so long and raked a lot of medals including Gold to bronze. I am never defeated except from his death. I stopped in year 2005.
After years of soul searching with the help of family, friends and my ex-boyfriend now my husband, I somehow recover from his death. Though I am not into painting as I used to be, I lifted my interest in art through form of makeup, the science of skin care routine and collecting beauty tools as my personal hobby.
I am so fortunate that my husband has been always supportive when it comes to my personal interest, he never questioned and even pushing me to enroll in makeup academy and be a professional makeup artist. My thoughts are 50/50 because I am still enjoying it all by myself with relatives and friends that love my work.
As a profession, I am a published writer (government & international company) which I was doing for three years as full time and now just consultancy and other PR related work to balance time with family, a business woman and part time teacher, so during my spare time I am proudly to say that I am a professional hobbyist.
My motto in makeup “less is more,” seemed to work well for this new generation. The no makeup look was the “it” thing all over the world. Although, I love doing my own makeup, I still love having my makeup done by a professional. It’s a great treat! My trusted makeup artist is
Kris Bacani and I want to experience the art of
Jigs Mayuga, his creations in celebrities and mortal people are to die for and I am simply intrigued.
You can emphasize your beauty with the right makeup. And you don’t need to change into something different to be a beauty. All you need is confidence and fun. It is not a serious game. At the end of the day, you will wash it off your face and try something new. Beauty never dies.
