that's life, you know...

Wow, it's been a LOOONG time. but I feel the need to vent. My mum has really bad hay fever. as in, she has to have injections once a month for the rest of her life, for her to be able to function properly. Now, while I'm mostly happy to inherit a lot of genes off her, getting her allergies is not something I wanted. I've had hay fever for a while, but we've never done anything about it, though I missed quite a bit of school and didn't feel all too well. but I had my first appointment with an allergy specialist yesterday, and I was tested. I have three really bad dust mite allergies (no surprise), four grass ones, and apparently allergic to cats too. The specialist gave me the option of going straight to getting injections, or trying a nasal spray (lol- I know, you do spray it up your nose) for two months.  I decided to try the spray first, and it is VERY unpleasant. It's a very weird feeling, you know, spraying this stuff up your nose. so I'm gonna be pretty glad in three months time to switch straight to the needles. *sighs* and since the spray only treats the symptoms, unlike the needles (which actually immunise you to the allergy, so you only have to take them until you build up immunity), I would have to use it for the rest of my life.

on a lighter note, my dad and I were having a bit of a panic attack, 'cause the instructions were weird, so we rang up my granddad who's a pharmacist, to ask him what they meant. basically, it resulted in a lot of jokes, with me being the butt of them, and some funny puns, and a discussion about which arm goes where while applying it (don't ask). then my sister (whose friend has similar allergies), just walks in and demonstrates the right way, shocking us.
