[Phone]

Hi! I'll be swimming in the park today! I'll try the pool later. It'll be lobsta fun if you can flounder on over there!

I'm thinking about hosting some EXCITING O-FISH-AL swim lessons soon too! Is anyone interested?

[Hi Mayfield. The weeping angels may be gone, but if you're passing through the park, you'll see a stranger sight. There ( Read more... )

[Yuki was trying to reacquaint herself with the town and walked over to the park to take a break and maybe have some lunch there when she saw the girl swimming]

Aren't you cold?

[Yuki was getting a bit cold just watching her!]

Nope! Not at all! I feel better than I have for a loooong time!

Have you swam in colder waters? [Yuki's going to be polite for now and not ask about her appearance]

I have! The ocean where I lived before could get very cold.

[She really hopes this doesn't sound rude or stupid... but she looks like she has gills!] Did you live in, um, near the ocean?

In! That's where my Lusus and I lived, we had an underwater hive and everything!

[oh of course, why didn't she think of that]

[have the blankest of faces]

I'm sorry, lusus? Hives under the ocean?

You can compare them to your absurd human caregivers and living quarters. Or "mother" and "house" if you prefer.

So if you're not calling your lusus mother then is she more of a caregiver? Someone who didn't give birth to you? May I ask what country you're from? Perhaps lusus is a term relative to there that I haven't heard of before. Hive is also a peculiar thing to call a house, it makes me think of bees.

[pause]

Wait, absurb human thing?

[Well that could explain her appearance more but yup, you've broken Yuki]

Absurd human thing! You seem to have a lot of them. I don't think trolls and humans work the same way, so I can't explain perch-fectly what a lusus is to you. I don't think you could grasp it!

[small smile] Yes, I agree with you there, we do have many absurd things.

I thought trolls lived under bridges. Though I guess bridges could cross oceans... [logic is failing her]

Could you try and explain it? I'm very curious and I think I'm pretty smart.

I can try! But it gets preeeeetty confusing!

I'm not the kind of troll you think. I come from a place called Alternia! My friends and I accidentally created the human world, but I can't tell you how- only that we were meant to.

Alternia. The base word is alter and you are both from a different planet and created an alternate human world, interesting. [she seems genuinely intrigued.]

Oh! It reely is. Would you like to hear more about the Lusus'?

Oh yes please.

When we're grubs, the few of us that have survived horrible trials are hand-picked by creatures called Lusus. They help raise us and protect us, in exchange for us taking care of them as well.
