"Write it up as a petition on petitions.whitehouse.gov! I'd sign it."
Well, here is a new petition I created on We the People, a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your name to mine? If this petition gets 100,000 signatures by August 24, 2013, the White House will review it and respond!
We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.
You can view and sign the petition here:

On July 20, 1969 people witnessed via telecommunications technology one of the most important moments in the history of human civilization, the landing of human beings on the Moon. Yet there are people who don't believe it really happened! Buzz Aldrin punched a Moon-landing detractor in the face some years ago. And when Neil Armstrong died, the day of the accomplishment of his life did not receive his nation's much-deserved historical designation. July 20th should be a National, indeed, an International day of Commemoration, celebrated with fireworks and amateur rocket launches to help children remember the Atlas* booster that sent Apollo 11 to the Moon. If this days is overlooked it will fade out of our history and into shadowy myth
* This was a brain fart. I KNOW that the booster that launched Apollo spacecraft was a Saturn V, but once you approve the petition's wording on this site, you cannot change it. Mea culpa, dummy, dummy, dummy. I'm a victim of my thought's own speed. And the response address the White House sent after the fact was
