I watched as Jacob went closer to the girl what he just called his. Usually I wouldn’t mind or care what or who he fucks in the end of the night, so I tried to play it cool. It didn’t feel right to allow Jake to have her. I didn’t know what I was thinking or what it was but somehow my feet’s were dragging me closer to them. I stopped in front of the brown haired girl with wide chocolate brown eyes and smiled widely. That was something new and don’t mean the girl even if she was new. I smiled like an idiot - that was new.
“Hello,” I said quietly, “I’m Edward Cullen.”
“Bella,” she smiled a little. I could feel my brother Jake was trying to get her attention by telling her something about his new-to-him what was so-to-be-dead car. It didn’t look like in interested her but she just smiled and nodded few times.
“So, Bella, how do you like here?” I asked.
“It’s fine. Only in mornings there are monster as an alarm clock,” she said looking at Alice.
I laughed, “Yeah, that’s a little energy monster.”
“Hey! I’m here!” Alice reminded us.
“Let’s go for a walk?” I asked her, wanting to talk in silence. Bella didn’t answer; she just looked at Alice and then smiled at me but Jacob needed to interrupt.
“Hey, Eddie!” he whispered in my ear. “Do you forget something?”
Oh, right. Bella should be his. She didn’t look like she would have fun with him since it was obvious that cars weren’t her thing. I should test how she felt about my Volvo after a quickie in the backseat. And she was beautiful and I believe that she isn’t just beautiful and she’s smart. Oh shit, I want this girl!
I was interrupted in my thoughts when I heard a screams in my head. Nice, Jake is trying to use any power he has to get me out of the way. Well, sorry Jake, I can tune you out!
“Let’s go,” I said to Bella and offered my hand. She took it with smile on her beautiful lips. I led her away from the party where we still could see everyone but wouldn’t be interrupted. Maybe Jake could interrupt us by making some tornado or something and sucking me in but would he risk now? Yeah, he was pissed but we all know the old story about what happened with the man who got too jealous.
“From where are you?” I asked.
“Arizona.”
“Warm and sunny?”
“Yeah, the type of climate I love,” she answered. We started to talk about movies and books and music. I was surprised that we had so much in common. I was happy about that because Jake and I hadn’t got anything in common, only our last name, parents, brothers, house and that we had powers. We talked maybe half hour and it was started to get a little bit too cold. I could feel Bella’s little body shiver.
“Are you cold?” I asked concern in my voice.
“A little,” she admitted and blushed. It was easy to say that she didn’t like to be the one who had some little problem or like that. She wanted to look in everyone’s eyes as a person who can stand on her feet.
I gave her my jacket and she smiled shyly at me, “Thanks.”
“No problem, it looks better on you,” I said, causing her to blush. I liked when she had her cheeks pink. It looked so lovely and adorable.
We talked a little more but then we got interrupted by Alice, she was waving for us to come back. That meant only one - the party was over. I really didn’t care about the party as much as I cared about spending some more time with Bella. So I asked her if she would like to go to dinner or something and she agreed. Now I had her mobile number and a stupid grin all over my face. I knew that Jake would hate me for this but tonight I didn’t care.
I got back to my brothers who were waiting for me in Emmett’s jeep. I jumped in the backseat realizing with surprise that Jasper was sitting next to me not Jake. Jacob was sitting in front and looked like he would smash something soon. Emmett looked at me and sighed.
“Bro, leave that new girl alone, Jake’s got a crush,” he said to me.
“Jake is falling for Bella?” I laughed.
“I saw her first!” Jake screamed at me. He looked like some five years old whose candy got stolen. “I want her to be mine! You don’t get it? You mostly fuck a girl and then break her heart. I want her more than just another girl!”
Hold on! Did he just say that I’m some fucker?
“I don’t see what your problem is! I asked her to come and talk with me a little and she agreed. She could say ‘no’ and stay with you but she wanted to be with me,” the best what I could say. “And she doesn’t understand what’s so great about cars.”
“Ok, you two! That’s enough!” Jasper said and I could feel that he was thinking hard. “Let’s make a bet! The winner gets the girl!”
“She’s not a prize!” I yelled.
“Shut up!” Jacob yelled at me.
“That’s a good idea!” Emmett said. “Why don’t we play a little game who gets the first kiss or something like that?”
