Fic: Third Time's the Charm

A/N: I actually thought of this last night when it was hard for me to go to sleep, and I spent the day thinking of how it would end up. And thank you xxTule17xx for reading this before I posted.
Jonghyun was lying awake in bed again. This was the fourth night. The fourth night alone. The fourth night with no warmth. And the fourth night with no Kibum. Usually Kibum would come back after something like this. He had the first two times. Except, Jonghyun didn’t feel so confident this time. He was actually sort of worried.
He went back to the morning of that first night he was alone.
“I’m serious, Jjong.” Kibum did sound serious, but Jonghyun still didn’t believe it. He was sure he’d come crawling back. It was like that in the past.
“You think I’m kidding. I’m sick of it, Jonghyun.” Jonghyun chuckled. He did think Kibum was kidding. But the smirk on his face was quickly wiped off as the ring he’d given Kibum two years ago was pressed into his hand.
“Keep it, I won’t be needing it any longer.” Jonghyun froze. Kibum had never given back the ring before. He looked at his own ring, remembering the promise they’d made to be together for eternity. He remembered the fragile smile on Kibum’s face. It was before Jongyun had started sleeping around. He hadn’t even dared to think about betraying him back then.
“Wait, don’t you think you’re being a bit too rash?” Now it was Kibum’s turn to snicker. “Really, Jjong? Am I? This is the third time I’ve caught you cheating, and I’m being rash by breaking up with you?” He laughed, saying his goodbye and turning to leave before Jonghyun grabbed his shoulder.
Jonghyun’s eyes widened at the tears cascading down Kibum’s face. Shocked, he loosened his grip on Kibum’s shoulder. “Ki-“ He didn’t get to finish as Kibum shoved him away.
Jonghyun still remembered the cold look on his face. At that moment, Jonghyun hated himself. He knew Kibum was serious.
On this fourth night, Jonghyun knew that all hope was lost. That he had really broken Kibum and he wasn’t coming back. He still remembered the words Kibum muttered under his breath when he walked away, his voice shaking.
“Third time’s the charm.”
