Mar 26, 2009 17:02

Yeah, yeah, two in one day. Deal. :P I'm sick and therefore just kinda laying around doing stuff, and I decided to do this. Until kinda recently I had only boring fonts, but then I found some cool ones and downloaded them. So, I'm posting mah faves and linking to them for everyone to download. :D Yay cool fonts! And if any of you have cool ones you want to share with me, well, by all means share! :D I'm going to try for alphabetical order, but we'll see. lulz.

Here's a preview of one for you so you know what they look like:

Instructions for downloading, installing and using are at the bottom. :D

*I've had this one for a while, and I really like it. It's always all caps, but I think it's a great font. It's also a larger font, but then it's easier to see when it's smaller. :D

http://www.1001freefonts.com/agentorange.php
*There's also an 'Agent Red' now, and the white part is bolder for that one. Or you could just bold this one. Meh.

http://www.dafont.com/clementine-sketch.font

http://www.dafont.com/dear-joe.font
*The orginal 'Dear Joe' font is really tiny, which is why I also have the one beneath this one, which is a larger version of it.

*After trying to find a link for this one, I realized that this one apparently came with my computer. Huh. Oh well, it's still awesome, and if you don't have Vista you probably don't have it. I managed to find a free download link for it, so snatch away. :D (Microsoft's link is all "purchase and use." Yeah right, like I'm gonna purchase fonts from you, Microsoft. Pfft.)

http://www.7000fonts.com/free-font/3262-ligurino.html
*Geez. I think this one came with my computer, too. Every link I clicked on that said "free download" was like actually, this is not free! It was either $8.85 for just this one, or $30 for the Ligurino "family" of fonts. Pfft. Finally, though, I found a free download. Yay!

http://www.dafont.com/luna-bar.font

*Apparently this one has a 'z' at the end instead of an 's.' Whatev.

How to download, install and use fonts:

Okay, now for fun stuff. How to use the fonts. When you download them, it will probably stick them in your '.temp' folder, which is incredibly difficult to find. That's why I use Firefox, which has a download window. You can left click on the font's download and select 'open containing folder' to get to the temp folder and find it. Although when I was trying them out tonight (to make sure some of them were really free), it opened the temp folder for me automatically. *shrugs* Okay, I just tried it for IE: click 'open' when the options for downloading come up to open the containing folder. Or 'save' and you can pick for yourself where it saves to.

Then for either Firefox or IE, you have to extract them in order to install (they download as compressed files, which makes them take up less space on a hard drive). Sometimes if you right click 'extract' will be an option. This will extract the file and move it somewhere else on your computer, usually your documents folder. If there's no 'extract' option, drag it somewhere like your desktop to extract the file. You'll need to extract the 'truetype' file. The others that download are unimportant, usually just text previews. Where ever you've placed it, when it's extracted you need to right click again and click 'install.' This installs the font into your computer, and any program you use that accesses fonts will now have it.
