ok. now you all get to hear me let loose from today.
first off. holy shit.

i had to get up at 6 30 this morning to go to school. oh not the highschool for 7 hours like usual. no no. i went to occ for 11 hours. the day of percussion was really cool. but. too. fucking. long. heres in shortness what happened.

7 30-8: last practice before the concert.
8-9: wait around doing nothing and listening to other groups rehearse
9-9 30: first ensamble plays their 1 piece. their 1 half-hour long piece.
9 30-10: 2nd ensambe plays their 1 half-hour long piece.
9 45-10: i fall asleep in the chair. the very uncomfortable chair.
10-11: guy gives seminar on timpini playing. i spend most of the time watching a dvd of a percussion festivel out in the lobby where some stands were set up advertising music companies.
11-12: indoor winter marching band people play and some guy critiques them.
12-12 30: lunch
12 30-1: people rearrange the stage.
1-2: really good snare drum guy gives seminar.
1 30-2: i fall asleep in the same extraordinary uncomfortable chair. for those of you who dont know, its almost impossible for me to fall asleep in any place other than a bed. thats how freakin tired and bored i was.
2-3: guy gives seminar on drum set. *see 2 15-3 45*
3-4: guy gives seminar on marimba. *see 2 15-3 45*
2 15-3 45: i go chill outside with random people from a random school and talk about absolutely nothing. but it was funny and far more entertaining.
3 45-4: i catch the end of the marimba seminar. the guy did nothing but talk. i didnt miss anything.
4: concert starts
5: my ensamle plays our 2 minute song. every other song played throughout the entire day was 20 minutes or more.
6: concert ends.

now some of you may say. "hey andy, you said 'in short', and that wasnt short". well then i say. HEY ASSHOLE, I WAS THERE FOR FUCKING 11 HOURS!!!

here's the highlights:
~for all you musicians bitching about your $800 flutes and trumpets and shit, the timpini at occ cost $40,000. so there.
~the dvd mentioned before. there was a rock group. the drummer. well. most drumsets have about 10 or 12 components. a few cymbals. a few drums. this guy had at least 40. 40!! i counted 15 cymbals. 15!! then he had at least 20 toms. 20!! and a bunch of other shit! shit!!!!
~the marimba guy did a concert performance. he stopped 20 seconds into his first song and said, sorry, but i'm gonna have to start over. he walked over across the stage and turned off a snare drum that was rattling because of the low frequencies on the low note in the marimba. i've never seen or heard of anyone ever stopping in the middle of a concert performance and starting over. its one of those things that is suppose to get you a first class ticket to hell or something like that.
