Hello all! I come bearing a new character for you to play with. (not like that, you pervs.) If anyone wants to plot feel free to comment or PM. :D

EMMALINE ULRIC

Basics:
Name: Emmaline Ulric
Nicknames: Em, Emmy
Age and DoB: 23, April 5th
Gender: Female
Relationship: Single and looking for love
Occupation/Rank/Title: Bar maid at The Trip Inn (this does not make her a whore)
Contact Information: PM or Email. Whichever you prefer. My email is twolefts@gmail.com

Appearance:
Height: 5'6
Eye Color: Light Blue
Hair: Dark Brown
Distinguishing features: She has a faint scar on her lower lip that she gained when practicing sword play with her father.
Played by: Natalie Dormer
Style: Emmaline wears what every other peasant wears. Simple and plain dresses. She tries to make them nicer by adding knitted flower embellishments to them all though and sometimes some lace trimming if she can get her hands on any. For work, the owner of the inn provided her with a couple of vibrant colored, low-cut dresses that she greatly dislikes but has to wear for the job.

Personality:
Emmaline is a dreamer. Her head is always up in the clouds. Often at work she'll be off in her own world, daydreaming about getting out of there. But this does not mean she isn't listening. She is still aware of everything that is going on around her. She is also a romantic and believes in love rather than lust and will not offer herself up to just anyone. Despite the offers of payment she frequently gets.

She can be very persuasive. Often just smiling and talking to a customer will get her a better tip. Her mum says it's her mesmerizing eyes or some such nonsense. She believes it's because the customers are expecting more if they tip her. Fat chance.

Em is also a very calm person. She keeps her anger under control at all times. She does not like confrontations and will never start one. She even tries to break them up sometimes.

Forgiveness is her middle name. She always sees the best in everyone (except the Sheriff because he has no best). She believes almost everyone deserves a second chance and sometimes even a third or fourth. This has actually gotten her hurt several times but she still believes it.

She can be pretty sarcastic. It's a defense mechanism more than anything. She's quite uncomfortable with attention being paid to her so she holds people at a distance with a sarcastic remark.

Emmaline is incredibly determined. She works hard to make sure her mum and sister are fed. She tries her best at everything even if she knows it's a waste.

She's also a very good liar. She doesn't know why, it just comes naturally to her. She can often spot a lie a mile away if the person isn't very good at it. She sometimes can read someone's face and body language and tell that they're lying.

She supports Robin Hood and the Outlaws in their crusade against the Sheriff. Not only did he kill her father, he kills countless others every day. He is the reason she and her family are always hungry.

Background:
Hometown: Nottingham
Family: Father: William (deceased), Mother: Rose (Occupation: Seamstress), Sister: Genevieve
History: Emmaline was born to William and Rose Ulric in their home in Nottingham. Her father was a blacksmith and her mother a seamstress. Because of this she had skill in both fields. Her father used to train her with the swords he made. She preferred long daggers though so he made one especially for her. It had a green jewel on the hilt (which her father received as payment from a soldier who did not have the money on hand) and her initials engraved in the blade. She kept it under her dress at all times. On the opposite spectrum of hobbies her mother taught her to sew and knit. She has become quite proficient at it and often helps her mother and sister when she has the time. She even enjoys it and will make dresses for herself and her sister when they've been gifted some extra fabric by one of her mother's customers.

When she was 19 years old and her sister was just 12 the Sheriff had ordered the finest sword be made for him by her father as he was the most well-respected blacksmith in Nottingham. Her father worked on it for several days before he was finished and he was very proud of his creation stating it may be his best yet. The Sheriff came to appraise his new sword and agreed that it was well made. He agreed to pay the large amount it cost as soon as he tested it out. He tested it out by running her father through with the sword. At the time, Emmaline was playing with her sister around the property and she witnessed the entire act. She tried to stay calm as she grabbed her sister by the hand and took off into town so the Sheriff wouldn't do the same to them. She headed to her mother who was out working to break to her the horrible news. Her mother did not believe her and as they arrived home they all broke down and cried around his lifeless body. From that day on Emmaline swore to protect her family, especially her little sister, and if she ever had the chance she would kill the Sheriff herself.

After her father's death times got hard. Living solely on a seamstress's pay was very difficult and they would often go unfed for a day or so but survived due to the friendliness of their neighbors and friends. Her sister, Gen, started working with her mother while Emmaline got a job at The Trip. The Trip wasn't as bad as she had thought it to be. Her boss was okay and didn't expect any "favors" from her. The girl she worked with, Violet, was well known to be a whore. While she did not condone the job, Violet was not a bad person and she knows she is only trying her best to help her family just as she is. Sometimes they will even giggle and gossip to each other. Violet knows a lot about the customers (from having known them intimately) and Emmaline finds it fascinating when she is told such personal things. They often make her blush, actually.

Writing Sample:

As Arabella walked through the base court she felt a shiver run down her spine. Not because of the chill in the air but of the excitement with which she was filled with. The court was decorated so lavishly, it was nothing she could have imagined. She had worn one of her nicest dresses for her arrival at court. It was her light blue gown decorated with small white pearls. It was far simpler than the gowns she saw adorning the ladies as she walked but she wore it well and with pride as she had sewed the pearls on herself.

She had curtsied to so many people thus far she thought her knees would give out. Everyone greeted her warmly despite not knowing who she was. There were a few young girls who had stared at her and whispered to each other but she did not know why so she paid them no mind and continued on her way. Williams had told her she was to report straight to the Queen as he had secured her a place as one of her ladies. She was ecstatic at the thought. Her, a lady to the queen? Not only would this bring great honor upon her she would also be able spend much time with her dear friend, Catherine. It had been many years since she saw her and was glad of finally being here so that she may call upon her whenever she liked.

Continuing her walk, she suddenly realized she hadn't the faintest idea of where she was headed. A thought occurred to her that it may have been smart to ask for directions when she first arrived. A man had taken her bag but had not offered for her to follow so she was unsure of what to do. She looked around and realized she was really quite nervous all of a sudden. Lost in such a large court and all by herself. Why did Williams not provide an escort? Did he want her to make a fool of herself? As she mused it on it she realized that was probably the case as he relished in her humility often. She was grateful he would not be with her here at court for a time as he would most likely humiliate her by asking her to fetch him things as if she was his maid. There were several people standing around conversing in low tones now as they looked at her as she was lost in thought. It was intimidating, to say the least. Asking for directions was out of the question. They might laugh at her for being so silly. She wandered on further hoping she would find her own way eventually.
