Re: Eliminationism.
It is worth discussing.
I've felt for a long time that the Republicans were preaching that the United States would be better off with out all those Democrats.
AND Democrats preaching the same thing against the Republicans.
It goes along with people that say, "If you don't like it, you can leave."
Of course referring to things like abortion, war initiative, welfare, taxes, gun control.
The thing is, The US was founded with the acceptance of both, if not more, parties.
The idea was that, when both parties are discussing issues with respect, the best ideas and the most beneficial ones come out.
Somewhere along the way, we have lost that.
Now its all about shouting your opponent down.
Now it's one party trying to undo everything the other one did in the last few years.
In essence, starting from scratch each and every time.
It is not a bad thing to listen to your opponent. it is not a sign of weakness unless you know that your own position is weak.
Cooperation will always create more winners than compromise.
Two quotes for you.
"Compromise leaves everyone equally dissatisfied."
and,
"Decisions by majority vote will always leave a dissatisfied minority."
That second one is something that Hopi Indians believe.
I honestly don't expect many people to understand this concept.
