You've all read my previous posts about fence straddling. So, you all know my reasons why I respect and disagree with BOTH candidates.
My perfect choice would've had:
McCain's attitude about foreign policy.
Obama's view of the war.
McCain's view on abortion.
Obama's view on economics.
McCain's smile.
Obama's healthcare plan.
McCain's integrity.
Obama's view on autism research.
NOT Sarah Palin.
YES Joe Biden. (me want to touch! ...fyi: I think he's hott!)
As you can see, the majority of my important issues were covered by Obama so majority ruled. He got my vote. Not to belabor the point, I was just as happy to see Obama win as I was upset to see McCain lose. I have so much respect for that man for what he went through and the hell he endured. He has all of the respect in the world from me. He is a true patriot and I am proud to have him as one of our country's leaders.
That being said, I just could not vote for him. I couldn't. He scared me when he said things like freeze spending on everything and focus our efforts in Iraq. I'm sorry, I can't allow that to happen! Stop wasteful spending yeah...freeze spending on all of the good things that this country has YET to offer?? WTF???
McCain's speech moved me to tears. That was the old McCain. The one that disappeared somewhere along the campaign trail. The true Maverick. The true Patriot. God Bless Him.
Obama's acceptance speech was awesome and victorious! I just felt so happy for him and his family. AND JOE BIDEN! I love him! And his little girl is REALLY cute. His speech was motivating charismatic and respectful. God Bless Him, as well.
So, this morning, I woke up, with a half smile on my face and a bittersweet taste in my mouth, to face this new day. A day where we know that the 44th President of the United States is Barack Obama. A day where the only thing that is certain is that things will be different. I am full of hope and uncertainty, but the hope shines far stronger.
As we Cubans say: Pa'lante y pa'lante. (Translation: Move forward and forward.)
Let's hope this was the right choice.
God bless the USA!
ONE MORE THING:
People who make fun of John McCain's physical disability (i.e. not being able to raise his arms) are JUST as bad as the racists.
