Deja-Bleu (A Spike/Fred Ficlet)

Jul 06, 2009 02:52

This is a short that I submitted for July's guest character (Fred) prompt at the nekid_spike community. It's rated PG-13 and set post-Not Fade Away, and at some point I hope to write a little sequel to it. After I finish writing another "In Dreams" chapter. Which hopefully will happen before we all grow long beards and die.

ETA: Sequels!Read more... )

Oh - sad and hopeful all at the same time - good stuff.

So glad you liked it! I pondered on it, then decided to leave it vague at the end as to whether or not there'd be more angst in their future.

Here via petzipellepingo. Love the way you use echoes of Buffy's return to life to explore his feelings about Fred. Very touching indeed.

Thank you so much, Gillo! I was worried that it'd just seem like a lazy rehash of "Bargaining"/"Afterlife" and obvious wish-fulfillment in the wake of my dissatisfaction with Season 6. ;D

*flails*

This is wonderful! So much happening in such a tiny space, so many echoes of the past and hope/unpleasant possibilities for the future. Thoroughly Spike, and our one glimpse of Illyria is hilarious (We require our dollar bills for gasoline! BWAH!)

And best of all, it's in vignette form, so I didn't have to labor over exposition and plot! ;D

I'm honored by your comments -- you are the GODDESS of Much Happening In A Tiny Space! (Crib. *sigh* What a masterpiece.)

Very nice. And an intriguing idea. I'm glad you plan to continue it someday.

Thank you! There's something liberating about writing vignette-style present-tense stories; very little agonizing over build-up and plot. You're just...there. :D
