Reentry: Chapter 1

I'm tucking my fics into LJ to make them accessible to a couple of communities here. (And hanging the award banners up, unless I accidentally break something. These buttons scare me.) *eyes "Mass Action" thingy and shudders*

Thanks so much, denny! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I'm still wrestling a bit with LJ's control buttons -- it insists on double-spacing between my Jabberwocky lines, even though the text was brought here single-spaced. I've edited and fiddled and pushed the lines and fired over their heads with a shotgun, and they still remain double-spaced. Grrr.

Re the double spacing, try *soft returns* instead of Hard Returns at the ends of lines. That should single space them.

This was recced by our Julia_Here and I'm enjoying very much, looking forward to reading further.

Thank you for the advice, nandibble! May I beg a teeny bit more from you? How do I make a "soft return"? I'm not familiar with soft vs. hard returns, and I wasn't able to find a reference to it in LJ FAQs or in my PCs For Dummies book.

Soft Returns nandibble June 13 2005, 01:22:23 UTC
In Word, it's SHIFT return (hold down the SHIFT key, then hit Return). On the screen, instead of a Paragraph mark (assuming you're using Word and have View ALL turned on in preferences), it's a little right-angled, down-pointing, left-pointing arrow. It's also called a "manual line break."

If you're using some WP program other than MS Word, look up "manual line break" or "soft return" in its Help menu. This is all about Word Processing, not LiveJournal or HTML at all.

However, you can do a soft return, Shift Return, in Edit mode in LiveJournal--I know because I've done it. I compose in Word, then reformat to code the italics and change Hard Returns to Soft Returns, copy and paste it into the LJ window. Then I tinker and edit it as needed. I assume you can do the same. In the poems you want single spaced, just change the Hard Returns to Soft Returns and that should single space the lines.

Good luck!

Nan

Fascinating original characters, I can't wait to hear their back story.

I like!

I wasn't sure how the whole reviewing thing was supposed to go in this particular case, but I did put my two cents in here and there.
