Link begins to play this song. After the song stops he begins to speak. A clinking noise can be heard as he puts his
ocarina down.]
So it seems like we're in the air, finally. Felt like weeks. For those that don't know me, I'm Lieutenant Link Espirit, and a quartermaster on the Ammy. Come to me if you need anything.
So...this doesn't seem like the best area to do some Sky fishing, so how about a story instead. It's an old legend my grandmother use to tell me. Well at least part of it.
[Shuffling is heard as he picks it up, and plays
up to the 16 second mark. The Ocarina is put down again.]
Long ago, there was a land that was beneath the clouds. It stretched on for what seemed to be forever, before hitting a gain stretch of water. This land's many kingdoms worshiped three Goddesses. One of Power. One of Wisdom. One of Courage. In this land, lied a huge forest. A forest that anyone that entered, was doom to die and become a servant of evil.
However there was a tribe of children, dressed in the forest's green, living deep within it. These children, called Kokori, each had a fairy. However there was one child that did not have one. Refered to as a half-person by the leader and biggest bully of the village, he truly only had one friend, the beauty of the village, who in playing the Ocarina. Both of there favorite song was a lively tune, that was filled with the spirit of the forest. [Once again Link starts to
play the ocarina.]
This boy wanted a fairy above all else, and soon, it would come. The child was elated, and showed off his new campaign. The kokori, who were normally kind, finally seemed to accept him as one of them, all but the leader. This joy was not to last though, the fairy brought news that the Great Deku Tree, a father like figure to them, had fallen ill due to a parasite, and wanted the boy to come to him and free him from it.
The leader did not like this at all, and refused to give up the blade, stating that only Kokori's should use it. The boy gave up, grabbed his slingshot, and together the two entered the Great Deku tree.
A great portion of it was hallow, eaten away by the parasite. Seeing the site and how much pain there father must of been in, almost drove both of the boys to tears. But they steeled themselves, and worked together, slaying all the monsters that had made nest in there. Soon the boys came face to face to the parasite, rage engulfing both of there faces. It was a gaint spider like creature with one huge eye.
It body seemed armor, and the fight dragged on for an while. However the boy finally noticed it's weak spot. It's eye. Firing the last of his ammo from the slingshot, the boy managed to daze it. The leader saw his chance and went to thrust his blade into the eye. However the battle had taken so long that he could barely get the tip to pierce the eye, by himself. He called over the boy, and together the two managed to fell the foul beast.
The two gave each other a high-five, before realizing that for once they weren't arguing. They shared a laugh and rested for a bit before heading out of the Deku tree.
However...it was too late, the Deku tree was dieing. It parted giving the boy a quest. To find the man that cursed him with the parasite and to stop him from doing to others. It instructed him to make his way to the castle, far to the north and show the princess there, the emerald of the Kokori.
The boy however did not go right away. Instead he mourned for a week, shutting himself out from even his best friend. When he finally called up his courage to leave, he was surprised, to find his tormentor waiting at the entrace. He thought he would stop him from leaving, however to his surprise, the boy just knelt in front of him, and held the sword and a wooden shield for the boy to take, stating that he was to leave and represent the Kokori, he should be able to protect himself, and he needed to come back one day. The boy smiled and took the gifts before leaving.
On the bridge that lead to the exit of the forest, his best and only friend was waiting for him. She gave him, her prized ocarina, and told him to play there song, if he ever wanted to speak to her. And so the boys adventure began.
