*Jacob hasn't yet worked up the courage to explore the forest. He doesn't expect any trouble in it, he just expected to get lost. So he was lingering around the edges and examining the trees. If the canopy wasn't too thick maybe he could just fly out if he got lost.
He's still not sure if he wants to go in when he spots the wolf, at first mistaking it for a similarly coloured wolf he met earlier. He smiles.*

[He's still wary about being in the forest for too long - especially by himself - so when he picks up the scent of someone as he heads towards the edge of the forest, he doesn't let that stop him from heading out. Derek doesn't recognize the scent, anyway.

So he's somewhat surprised when the guy smiles and talks to him. He tilts his head, blinking at him, then goes with it and nods.

He is usually in there when he changes, anyway.]

*Jacob looks back to the forest.*

It looks like a big place, well, probably not as big as a lot forests, but bigger than I expected to see here. Well, I didn't expect to see any here, but...you know what I mean. Its bigger than most by human habitation, though I guess I'm not sure how much this place actually counts as that.

*He shrugs and scratches his head, then turns back to the wolf.*

Is it nice in there? Easy to get lost? I'm not sure if I want to check it out yet or not.

[Derek glances back at the forest as the guy talks, considering. Yeah, it is pretty big, though he's got a lot more experience with being in big forests. Even ones by human habitation. Comes from being a werewolf.

Of course, he's got no way of communicating that. But then it doesn't matter, since the guy starts talking about actually going into the forest, and that's much more important.

Derek looks back at him, giving a soft whine and shaking his head. Not a good idea, heading in there. Not alone, anyway.]

[Derek shakes his head again. He moves to stand by the guy's side, turning to face the forest and glaring at it, growling softly.

There's bad stuff in there. Not a place to be exploring on your own.]

*Jacob cents his head and looks between Derek and the forest. His wings ruffle a bit.*

[Derek wags his tail, pleased that this guy is getting it. He nods, sitting down next to him and giving another low whine.]

*Jacob frowns and sits down beside Derek.*

That bad, huh? Its too bad you can't tell me what's in there. Is it just natural predators? Or is it something freaky like...I don't know, whatever happened with those pumpkins?

[Derek sits back down when the other guy does, trying to figure out a way to answer those questions.

After a moment, he shakes his head - no natural predators, at least not that he knows about - and then gives a nod. Definitely freaky things like with the pumpkins.]

Freaky things...man, I shouldn't be surprised. I guess no calming walks in the forest for me. At least there's still the orchid if I want trees.

*He sighs.*

Is there anywhere in this place that isn't secretly freaky?

*He's not really expecting an answer to that one.*

[Yeah, Derek feels him. Not exactly fun having to go in there to Change and worry about vines attacking him and stuff.

He shakes his head as an automatic response to that, then stops and considers it. After a moment, he shifts one shoulder in an approximation of a shrug.]

I guess that means we'll have to wait and see. I'd ask you if there was anywhere safe to explore, but either you can't really answer me or there isn't anywhere.

[No, there really isn't anyway. Even the barracks had elevators that led down into the tunnels.

Still, though, those're closed off, so Derek huffs lightly and looks back towards the barracks. They seem safe enough so far.]

Back there? Well, I guess it makes sense--and is a good thing--that its safer where they expect us to sleep.
