Alex, Toph, Shepard, Kevas.
[There's a brief pause.]
Chloe's asking after Sollux, even though I already saw you post, and Jack, Talia, Bobby, Xanth, and Kairi.
You okay?
[There's a muffled voice that sounds like Chloe protesting, then the audio clicks off. Derek's still watching the journals, though, and will answer.]

We will. You, too.

Thank you .. and I will certainly try my best.
[There was only so well one could be after being told they would have to kill anyone they found infected.]

[That's all the breath he's got in him and he's just going to stare at the journal.
Last he saw you. You were a body being used by the Kraken like a babe with a toy.]

Jack .. You made it to shore safely, I trust?
Reply
In a m-anner of sp-eaking-
[Sort of. He's still suffering the effects of that encounter and switches to text. Talking tires him out.]
Now tell me that this is not some macabre hallucination and that you are who you say you are?
Wait.
Are you perhaps a ghost?
[Jack's mind is a strange place to tred...]
Do you know you died?
Reply
Not a hallucination, Jack .. nor a ghost. I'm quite alive and in possession of a rather perfect recollection of the events leading to my death.
[Her expression is grim, a tight smile on her lips.]
I don't recommend dying, if you can at avoid it .. This place will bring you back, yes, but it is .. an unpleasant experience.
Reply
He will sit quiet for a moment and watch the video feed. She can't be a ghost at least. Ghosts you can see through but, he tends to hallucinate on a regular basis. The possibility can not be ruled out.]
I've died once. Not here, mind you- [yet?] but I do not think that death and dying are things one would wish to seek for pleasure.
[There is a pause.]
I am grateful for what you did there. Without you I'd likely not have come to shore at all.
[She distracted the Kraken...]
Reply
No, that it is not .. I might wish to question the sanity of one who found it so.
[Because, seriously, drowning? SO not on her list of fun after school activities.
When she speaks next, her tone is softer and there is a certain fondness.]
I was hardly going to leave you to face such an end, Jack .. I'm only sorry I was unable to do more than I did.
[As of now, she's unaware of the monoctopus and the game of dolls he played with her corpse.]
Reply
[Yes. That mess was his fault when the damn beast followed him here...]
You did more than most others. I was beginning to think I wasn't liked.
Reply
I'll not have you blaming yourself either, Jack. It wasn't something expected by either of us and I've no though that it was deliberate in any fashion.
[She falls silent for a moment at that before replying softly.]
I do what I'm sworn to .. and I'd do so again if it proved necessary.
[Kevas wouldn't like that, but she'd die for those she called friend; even the pirate that had gotten her killed.
She takes a moment then to peruse her husband's responses and the speaks again.]
I hold no grievance, Captain .. Please know that.
Reply
There's really nothing you can say to convince him otherwise Talia.]
Not deliberate in the least.
[He admires her for that. She's more mature than her years and it shows in her carriage.]
I do appreciate it. Though, I do believe your counterpart will and as such perhaps it is better then, this way?
[Don't argue. He hasn't the energy to argue it.]
Reply
As you say, Jack, but there is far more to it than simply making said decision and declaring it so.
[No, the Herald would be keeping an eye on you; even if from a distance. After a moments' pause she continues, her voice soft.]
Take care of yourself, Jack.
Reply
[If he knew that she was keeping an eye on him for his safety he'd declare her daft and all manner of silly but, it would only be done in the best of taste. The only other soul that's managed to do that, and wanted to without another reason behind it, was his First Mate, Gibbs.
He switches to audio because writing some things out just seemed silly. Especially these strange goodbyes that were not really goodbyes since no one was really going anywhere.]
Y-ou also. Don-t b-e gett-ing in-to anym-ore troub-le now.
[Some people less savvy than himself might wonder what Talia is doing with Kevas- Jack doesn't. A balance on the scales, that pair.]
Reply
As he switches to audio, it becomes all to clear that keeping an eye on the good captain will certainly be a mission she takes upon herself. The is a smile in her voice as she replies lastly, but also an air of promise.]
I can't promise that, Jack .. but I can certainly try my best to survive it.
[You are certainly a savvy one, Captain Sparrow.]
Reply
She died because of you?
[Well he's just getting all kinds of information he doesn't want. It's a damn shame you didn't lock this Jack.]
