Yesterday was the National (American [they often seem to forget to say that, don't they?]) Day of Prayer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Day_of_Prayer) and the National Day of Reason (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Day_of_Reason). I'll do "reason" next week, promise. ;-)

From the altfriday5:

1. Do you pray? Why or why not? (If it's no feel free to skip 2, 3, and 4.)

Since I became an atheist, I have only prayed once. That was at my uncle's funeral. He was a Mason, so I felt it would be good to honor him with a DeMolay prayer.

2. To which deities, entities, or forces do you pray?

If I do pray, I pray to humanity. Through our inner reflection, I think we can make humanity better.

3. When do you pray (e.g. at set times, when in fear, when thankful)?

Basically never.

4. How do you pray? With gestures? With words? Out loud or in your head?

Silently. The DeMolay prayer involves putting one knee on the ground and the right leg kneeling, then your right elbow is put to your right knee and you rest your right hand on your face. It is from a portrait of George Washington praying.

5. How do you feel about the idea of a national or international day of prayer?

Its a bunch of horseshit. James Dobson is creating all these little conservative Christian shits so his wife can turn around and discriminate against the ones who aren't "Judeo-Christian" for her stupid National Day of Prayer Task Force.
