Scary strangers at bus stops are hard to deal with.
I find it really hard to act indifferent when I meet strangers who are in far worse situations than I am..
If I empathize and ask questions, I'm being their friend and this puts me in a bad situation because they latch on like crazy and want to follow me home (learned this lesson a couple times).
So now I just listen and am as unresponsive as I can be even though I just want to hug most of them..
This guy today told me all about how his boyfriend kept beating him up. He seemed pretty drunk so I wasn't exactly sure what his deal was.. He said he needed bus fair to get to the hospital to check out his concussion (at which point he points at the scar on his hand). I didn't really buy it, but I gave him a bus ticket.
I wonder where he'll go...
