my promise

so, i promised a more updated post..right

So i flew up to washington by myslef on tuesday morning, and in all honesty i was terrified. When I got there (nearly missing the bus to the center) I sat down with a guy from mass. and realized that no one else knew what was going on. therefore i felt much more comfortable. Then we got to the center where i met my room mates and such..did all that fun check in mess..and such....and such...

The next day we had meetings...no, wait, that was EVERY day. yes, something like at least four hours of meetings each night.

We held an "If I were president" thing, where i was the chief economic advisor. it was pretty cool. LAter in the week, we held a "testing the Constitution" simulation in which I was the Supreme Court Chief Justice. That was pretty cool.

The food kinda sucked...it killed my diet, so i started eating salad and fruit everyday for every meal. with cranberry juice as well, of course.

next, we worked everday on a Model Congress, in which my leadership group of 21 was Caucus A- meaning we were the most liberal of the liberals- in order to write our own amendment on a bill to ber discussed on saturday.

naturally, our bill failed in the Rules committee, in fact, it failed in every committee. sadness..

we saw all of the monuments, including the World War II memorial, which I found to be considerably awe-inspiring.
I also met with Representative Sue Myrick's secretary, and with Jonh Edwards' secretary. I had lots of questions, and all were answered..i think.

WE got to have a press meeting, in the national press building..which was really a debate between reporters from newsweek, NPR, washington times, and washington post. but it was prety cool.

Amazingly, we got invited to a speech by the honorable Al Swift on the house of representatives floor. i think most of us fell asleep...but at least the chairs were comfy.

on saturday, during the model congress, after all the work, we opted to fail the bill..go figure. but it was fun.

then, of course, the girl fell out of the window and the ambulance kept us up until 2..then the horrid day of flying home, yes, horrid.

later last night, i went to andrew's and we watched southpark. then i came home and did homework. and now i'm going to go do homework again.
