Just yesterday I got very exciting news. A group called DAAD is giving me
a bigass scholarship to study abroad in Germany! It's a well-established and competitive scholarship, and I really didn't think I'd get it. They're giving me € 615 (about $780) every month for ten months, plus € 290 start-up money, "a lump sum for travel," and insurance. I don't know how much a "lump sum" is, but I do know that whenever I hear the phrase, I think of those commercials about converting small settlement payments into "one large lump sum." There's just something enjoyable about a blonde with a British accent talking about large lump sums.
In any case, this is thousands of euros I wasn't expecting. I was really worried about money, and now I don't have to be.
Very, very excited.
By the way, since people have been asking, my icon is me in 1992, just before turning seven.
