I promise to update more often. Pinky swear, even.
My barber made an interesting point today in regards to a possible silver lining to the last election: Who else got re-elected in '72? Give up? Hint: In '74, he was out the door. If wishes were horses, right?
In the parking lot by the barber shop, there was a dog sitting patiently in the driver's seat of a Wrangler, which made me happy.
Speaking of dogs in the driver's seat, check this out:
Bush arrested in Canada for war crimes I'm impressed.
You may not hear about it much on the boob tube, but there's a Genocide going on in the Darfur region of Sudan. You can raise money for humanitarian aid by buying a new benefit album, the
Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project. Here's a related story to boot, courtesy of truemajority.org (and a lil' lurking on the Bendis Board). It regards a bill proposing sanctions on the Sudanese government:
"The bill was supposed to be dealt with before Thanksgiving, but some anonymous senator put a hold on the popular bill in an attempt to hold it hostage in exchange for something else he or she wanted. We don’t know who it was, but we’ve been told the issue has been resolved. The Senate is scheduled to come back on Tuesday, December 7, but that may be the last day they convene as the 108th Congress. If there is another glitch this important bill will have to start all over again with the new Congress in January."
It's called the Comprehensive Peace in Sudan Act (S2781)
Oh, how I loves the gov'ment, yessiree . . .
