Amy.

I was afraid, and at that moment I felt small, like... like I had lacked experience; like I'd never be on her level; like I'd never be enough for her, or something like that. You know what I'm saying?

A short clip from "Chasing Amy"I have a big problem with faggots; not gays, but faggots. I hate to make that sort of distinction, but it's there. ( Read more... )

I’ve come under intense scrutiny for the way I chose to write my post. Apparently, attacks of the personal nature seem to be wrong.

I’d like to make two points first.

The pink pin. Apparently this has been interpreted as a symbol of oppression. Why does it have to be? Can’t it just be a symbol? Like the Star of David, a Cross, a ribbon for breast cancer, a rainbow for gay pride? What’s wrong with that?

“the only gays who are oppressed ARE FLAMING FUCKING FAGGOTS.”

What of the gay rights movement? Wasn’t that a movement to allow homosexuality to be accepted? How is it different to the black rights movements of the 60’s? Both are segments of the populations that were oppressed. Why shouldn’t they celebrate their heritage, who they are?

"Every time I see one of those things, it is as though its wearer is trying to tell me that they are somehow better than I am since they wear a bright pink fucking pin to show me that it is okay to be gay. I find myself to be very accepting of all people, gays included, which is why it offends me that others need to advertise to me that gays are okay."

So…the Christian with his cross is better than you too, eh? The biker with his tattoo has established societal dominance because he’s marked his skin with ink…

The second point rests on the ominous poster. I’ll admit, I haven’t seen it. I’m sure if it violates some code of some sort in the university, it’ll be taken down. I’m sure if it is, Brent will say “see, I was right.” How does a poster promoting gay sex in a lude way compare to all the t-shirts you see in the mall at the various kiosks, promoting alcoholism, oral sex, and degrading behavior of women?

I’ve been accused of poking fun at Jews and vector. If someone of the Jewish faith sincerely feels this way, I will issue an apology.

“when people stereotype and hate gays, it's flamers they hate, not real gays.“

Well, I imagine “flaming” homosexuals are gay too, I don’t see how they are any less real. They just happen to be more vocal. And therein lies the problem for you. A certain irony exists when the vocalist dislikes others who are themselves also vocal. The fact of the matter is, people who are passionate about something exude that something in their aura. It doesn’t matter what it is. Musicians are crazy about music, artists are crazy about art. If you have passion for something, naturally you want to share it with the world. You can’t fault someone for enthusiasm, unless you fault yourself…ex Vector.

In response to your response, why would I refute issues with which I agree with you on? Why would I refute your good points about gays if I agreed with them? I hardly see how my choice of points to refute has any relevance on my position.

My last accusation to address is that I haven’t taken a clear position.
Here it is: Exercise some tolerance. And if you can’t, then that's real unfortunate, because society doesn’t seem to be moving away from bottling “faggots” up, so you’ve got a real problem to deal with.
