I was afraid, and at that moment I felt small, like... like I had lacked experience; like I'd never be on her level; like I'd never be enough for her, or something like that. You know what I'm saying?
A short clip from "Chasing Amy"I have a big problem with faggots; not gays, but faggots. I hate to make that sort of distinction, but it's there.

I see where you're both coming from. Although it follows in his naturally crass, narrow-minded, super charged emotionally highly opinionated style, Brent’s argument does contain validity. So far as, if he doesn’t like it, why should he have to see it. Well, that’s all well and good, but it’s an argument that exists in the dominion of one. Other people have opinions, other people can express them in whichever way they choose. There’s a list of parades that go on in Toronto, including the Gay Pride, Caribbanna, and Santa Clause. Every ethnic group has some sort of festival. Chinese New Year, Jewish something or other, Christians with Christmas, Polish New Year, I’m sure at some point the Italians are eating food for some reason…etc. Canada, more specifically Toronto and Montreal, are known as a cultural hubs in the world. All sorts of things go on here, and the main word to know is tolerance. Where am I going with this? Well, why should I like hearing about how jews were killed in a holocaust more than 50 years ago? That didn’t happen to me, why should I care? How about massacres in Rwanda, and the Korean War Memorial with all the veterans? The fact of the matter is we hear about it all. The jews struggled, we hear about it. They celebrate their struggle. All ethnicities celebrate their struggles. And sure sexual preference isn’t an ethnicity, but for some it’s a struggle. Kaitlyn’s point about being white and middle class is a good one. Have you been touched by racism? Have you gone days without a full meal? You can’t know what it’s like to be gay unless you are gay. And you can’t be so intolerant of them either.
Here’s my classification for you. You can be a Vector Faggot. What makes you think that that anyone cares about what you’re doing with Vector? Why should people be subjected to your phone calls, to giving up their time to you? Why should they allow themselves to be marketed to? How are you any less enthusiastic or passionate about what you do, than they are about who they do? Why is it so difficult for you to exercise tolerance towards people and things you dislike? Granted, I don’t enjoy flaming homosexuals. Yes they can get annoying. But they have every right to be annoying as you do… .
And why…why oh why…would you go attacking Kaitlyn’s credibility? You can make a statement saying how she isn’t credible because she says foolish things in public. Haven’t you said foolish, arrogant, ill thought out things in public? You can say that because she’s said such things, she isn’t capable of assembling a well thought out argument, or a valid argument. Frankly, I think it’s quite valid.
Lastly, if you’re attacking Kaitlyn’s replying to your journal, why have a live journal at all? I thought the point of this was to create a forum where there can be discussion. Isn’t discussion what you wanted? If that isn’t the case, then why not keep a journal in a file on your computer? Assuming you don’t want anyone to see it. But you do want people to see it, don’t you? You want people to read what you have to say, you want people to see what you’re about. It’s kind of like wearing a little pink pin, just with a whole bunch more words. Of course, you could just hide away your opinions, and try and set and example for them to hide away their preferences. But you can’t tell Kaitlyn not to read your journal, if the point of your journal is for it to be read (assumption).
Yes, you have every right to dislike the way things are, but if it’s so bad you should move to the Southern US, where they have militias and “NGO’s” to deal with anything that isn’t white or straight. In Canada there’s supposed to be an acceptance and understanding for any and everything. It’s supposed to be a place of free speech, equality, and celebration. So, if gays want to celebrate, let them.
It’s unfortunate this was all spawned by a poster. It’s not like Sisal tried to mount you from the back or something. It’s just a poster, with a slogan, that you didn’t like. It’s not oppressing you, it’s not threatening you. And if you feel either of those things, well, you’re over-reacting.
Hopefully I haven’t lost too much coherency.
Cheers,
Ray

I also fail to see how learning about the holocaust relates to the distinction I made. I know that gays exist; I hardly need further education on that. I know that they, like Jews, deserve rights. However, my post never made a claim otherwise. I merely pointed out that a certain kind of gay, known as the 'faggot' goes about offensive means of furthering his or her fabricated cause.
I love Montreal. I love Toronto. What does this have to do with pins and posters on my campus that suggest that I should try anal sex with another man? I mean, that is narrow-minded of those select gays who are responsible for that poster, to assume that I am somehow less tolerant of gays strictly because I do not enjoy man-to-man anal sex. Gays can have their parades; I don't care. Blacks can have black history month; I don't care. Those are both good things, as I see it.
If you truly believe I am being narrow-minded, you should perhaps revisit my post. I did, in fact, make several good points on the side of homosexuals. In fact, I ridiculed the purpose of the Ally pin because people should not need a symbolic reminder that being gay is okay. I even, to a lesser extent, agreed with the purpose of the poster in my residence by saying that the perspectives that we take on life originate from our own experiences.
In truth, Ray, I find this reply to be nothing more than you playing the devil's advocate. If I would have said that I love flamers, you would have suggested marching them to a death camp somewhere. I take your argument with a grain of salt, because like all confrontations we have, its purpose is merely to get under my skin... something you know how to do very well.
