Narcissism.

Call me... c'mon, don't start feeling narcissistic. I'm really talking about you!

The evident paradox in this phrase says a good deal about the egocentric nature of human beings. Whenever we come upon something vague, we automatically begin to see in what ways it is a part of ourselves. This point relates back to my earlier statement about the lyrics to emo music; we all try to relate, even if the words have nothing to do with us.

So the question is, how can the intent of any author truly be read, especially if he or she is to keep an online journal? I've been asked more than once if a particular entry is about a particular person. Can it be said either way? Perhaps there are multiple occurances for particular, universally-applicable statements.

..You wanted dick and you got a relationship.

If I quote someone in my journal, then I have heard it with my own ears. But what does this mean? Does this phrase apply to me? To you? To everyone? I mean, let's not all go to pieces and assume that everything I find to be significant should be significant to you, as well.

..I just realized that the probability of me being a rebound is just as good as you being a rebound.
..That's true.

And yes, I am fucking your with your head. Yes, you. You right there! You!

..Well, I made a choice. I chose you over her.
..Well, you never had to choose. You can still be her friend.
..But she confided in me.
..Yes, but you've done nothing to break her trust.
..I know, but you like said before, I was always more your friend than hers, anyway.
..That's how it always appeared to me.
