I went to bed early last night, and can't believe (though I should) that I'm up and awake by myself at 8. I guess I should try this more often when I get to school, so that my eyes won't be so bloodshot when I meet the world (usually I don't get enough sleep during the semester, since I have a 'get up' time without maintaining a proper 'bed' time). Yesterday was weird and stressful: mostly because of my family. Sometimes I forget how much patience it takes to deal with this big group of people aged 6 to 47. Each person has a different maturity level (don't we all), and so you have to adapt your style of communication, method of persuasion (if you are trying to get them to do something that they *really* would rather not do), and tone of voice to fit his or her specific requirements. This is not very complicated, I just forget how much thought I sometimes leave out of the communication part. However, I must not forget what a treasure they are (not sarcastic)- my youngest brother is hilarious. Annoyingly, he does show off, but he is going to be hilarious when he is old enough to understand humor. Every person has such a different personality, and interaction amidst all of them can be quite funny. My mom made beef stew last night, and the entire table was alive with chatter.
Frustrating point: Dad seems to think that he can take over any conversation, simply because he is interested and because he has a 24/7 hunger for information. My friend was over yesterday, and he started talking about the public school "No Child Left Behind' law with her. She is a certified teacher now, specializing in violin: I went to school with her when she was a senior when I was a freshman. We have a nice time talking, for the most part. My dad apparently really liked visiting with her, since I sat at the kitchen table observing their conversation for quite a while; I couldn't just leave her, since that is very rude. The neighbors (our favorite ones) came over to play Yahtzee (as tradition dictates), and I invited her to play a game with us before she took off to Ohio. She ended up scoring 584: all 3 bonus Yahtzees, and everything else filled in. I'm pretty sure that only happens once in your life- at least "that's what she said" (Office quote).
My light rant on dry mouths from Sunday also applies to Monday. I must be dehydrated. Actually, I know that I am since last night, during my nightmare, I kept waking up with NO saliva. What a hassle during such an interesting dream.
I need to do laundry, so that I can pack for TX- or maybe I'll bother with it tomorrow. This reminds me of an irritating fact: my mom said that it now costs money to fly- like 16.95 to 30 bucks or something. They also send my mother a detailed letter full of every single flight that any family member takes. How exciting!!!!!
